These New Angry Orchard Flavors Are A Real Scream

Last year, Angry Orchard debuted their first “Thriller Pack” emblazoned with a classic horror slasher. This time around, Angry Orchard is partnering with Paramount Pictures and Fun World to bring Ghostface (or Ghost Face, if you’re clinical) to the hard cider aisle… right down the way from the spirits aisle he already inhabits. Angry Orchard was nice enough to send over this year’s Thriller Pack; here’s what we thought of the two new flavors in this spooky foursome.

Angry Orchard Mystery Caller Hard Cider Review

New Angry Orchard Flavor!

Only one flavor in the Angry Orchard SCREAM Thriller Pack is graced by the Ghostface with the most… face. (Technically, we don’t know which Ghostface is on this can; per the SCREAM wiki, fifteen different people have taken on the persona across the franchise’s canon entries. While only a fraction ever held the phone on this can, we still can’t explicitly narrow down exactly who it is… which is fitting for this franchise.) Is this mystery flavor as iconic as the mask it wears? Well… no.

The drink is a little tart (beyond the 5% ABV), but it lacks the zing of Blood Orange or the buttery-sweet aftertaste of Caramel Apple Curse to mitigate that tartness. My guess? This is some sort of guava. Kiwi Guava? Guava Strawberry? We’ll just have to wait and see if this SCREAM-inspired flavor truly lives up to the original concept by featuring a surprise two-some. (Spoilers? The movie is 30 years old by now…)

Angry Orchard Caramel Apple Curse Hard Cider Review

New Angry Orchard Flavor!

Of the four Thriller Pack flavors, this messes with the original formula the least. (Believe it or not, the default flavor profile for hard apple cider is… apple.) That said, caramel apple is a popular seasonal flavor for a reason. Angry Orchard’s Caramel Apple Curse Hard Cider has a mellow sweetness that softens the cider before the alcohol can bite.

If any of these flavors are going to come back in next year’s Angry Orchard Thriller Pack, Caramel Apple Curse is the winner in my book. Hell, let’s get a Salted Caramel Angry Orchard along these lines in the works for spring or summer 2027 just so I don’t have to wait as long.
