Even the most casual restaurant industry observer will probably be aware that people haven’t been super happy with Chipotle this year. At the start of 2026, news of its price hikes was greeted with a lot of frustration by its customers, who were already struggling with how expensive they felt its food had become. Since then, the chain hasn’t lowered its prices, but it has been going hard on promos, offers, and giveaways, in typically left-field fashion: Think free double protein, free food on certain days, and BOGOs if you wear specific items of clothing.

Its latest offer, though, might be its most eye-catching yet – and certainly its biggest in a physical sense. So how are its customers feeling about it? We’re about to talk about it.
Chipotle’s Big Ass Bag
Chipotle has just announced that its to-go bag is getting a revamp. A Big Ass revamp. I’m not just uttering mild profanities for the sake of things here: It’s just dropped its Big Ass Chipotle Bag, a super-sized version of its standard receptacle, which it created to celebrate its Family Meals and which it will be giving away to Rewards members through a sweepstakes. The Big Ass Bag is undeniably huge: A 170-liter tote, it’s big enough for adults to sit inside. Use it at the beach. Use it at the gym. Use it to put literally all your groceries in. Or use it to carry your Chipotle around. The choice is yours.
To win a Big Ass Bag, you have to put up some cash first – in the form of a purchase. Chipotle says Rewards members who buy a Family Meal through its app or on its website will be automatically entered to win. The sweepstakes runs for the next few weeks, through November 10. Head to chipotle.com/giveaway for all the details.
The People Have Spoken
Given that Chipotle has been facing a lot of heat in the court of public opinion this year, it’s perhaps no surprise that some people aren’t overjoyed with this promotion. “Chipotle introduces giant bags instead of bigger portions or lower prices,” reads a Reddit thread title that has garnered over 100 comments in 24 hours. Some people are also slightly irritated at the fact that they have to make a purchase to be in for a chance to win.
That said, there are plenty of other restaurants that run pay-to-play sweepstakes, and plenty of other restaurants that have faced criticism for their prices – so Chipotle’s far from alone here. Plus, if you’ve always wanted, in the immortal words of Tom Wambsgans from Succession, a “ludicrously capacious” bag, now’s your chance.
