McDonald’s Is Giving Out Free Fries For College Students — But Only In Certain Towns

We’re always here for free food. Always. It’s a no-brainer. And recently, McDonald’s has been coming up with the goods. It’s been doing so in a very localized fashion, though (which perhaps isn’t that strange, considering that if it were to give away stuff nationwide, it’d get through a lot of stock), and in some fairly quirky ways. Just last weekend, for instance, McDonald’s elected to give away free bottles of pickle brine to Chicago marathon runners. Maybe it just had a load left over? We’re still not 100% sure.

Its latest giveaway, though, is an item it definitely doesn’t need to try hard to shift. Once again, though, only certain people are gonna benefit from it. 

Free Fries For Everyone! (In Three Places!)

Tomorrow, October 17, McDonald’s is planting Fry Aid machines in three college towns across the US, giving students the opportunity to grab some free food. According to Dexerto, these Fry Aid machines will be popping up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Atlanta, Georgia, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and they’ll be there from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you head to one of these Fry Aid modules, you’ll be able to get an Arch Card, which can then be used at your local McDonald’s to get some grub on the house. 

Why is McDonald’s doing this, you ask? Well, it’s all in honor of Homecoming – and as such, it’s essentially to help people refuel, soothe their sore heads, or both. Dexerto notes that this promotion is inspired by the “recovery” meal of McDonald’s fries and Diet Coke, which has become a popular viral topic of late. Some of us have been opting for that combo to get ourselves out of a sticky situation for upwards of 10 years, just sayin’. After 3 o’clock, though, these Fry Aid machines will be gone (or will start to be dismantled) – so get yourself out of bed, for god’s sake!

And For The Rest Of Us?

There’s still some free stuff! As long as you’re willing to…spend some money. The McDonald’s app is currently running a free fry giveaway for customers who spend at least a dollar on food. And for anyone who prefers to bathe in the glorious glow of nostalgia, as so many of us do, the chain is also bringing back its Boo Buckets this Halloween. There’s never a dull moment at the biggest chain around, is there? No, friends, there is not.
