There was once a time when gluten-free crackers were pushed to the very fringes of society – and by “the very fringes of society,” I mean “the gluten-free aisle right at the end of the supermarket.” It didn’t matter how good some of them were; they never got a seat at the table. In the last couple of years, though, things have changed significantly. Gluten-free crackers have grown in popularity and scope, while food technologies have continued to develop. They’ve started to come into their own.

If you need any proof of this, I point to the fact that both Goldfish and Cheez-It have announced and released, respectively, gluten-free versions. And now, finally – finally! – Ritz is doing the same. Let’s goooo.

Ritz Gluten Free Crackers

This week, Ritz announced via its Instagram (and with an accompanying press release) that its Gluten Free Crackers were coming. In fact…they’re basically already here. Well, at select retailers. Ritz Gluten Free will be available this month at Walmart and Albertsons supermarkets, before a wider, nationwide release in February 2027. Each 8 oz. package has a suggested retail price of $4.49, although prices may vary.

Ritz is very much keeping things classic here: These are its Original crackers, in all their buttery, salty, flaky goodness. There’s no word yet on whether it’ll expand its gluten-free recipe to other flavors – but hey, if these are a hit, it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

A Warm Reception

And it looks like these could be a hit. News of Ritz’s entry into the gluten-free world was met with a lot of fanfare online, with message boards and forums focusing on gluten-free and celiac-friendly lifestyles exploding in discussion. One person on Reddit also posted what they claimed to be its nutrition label, showing that these crackers are made from a combination of cornstarch, yellow corn flour, faba bean protein, tapioca flour, and oat fiber. As such, they may not be compatible with other dietary specifications.

By and large, though, people are very happy about this new release. “I COULD CRYYYYY,” said one person on Ritz’s Instagram announcement. And the brand has very much moved at the right time here. It’s gotten to the point where if a major cracker or bread name doesn’t have a gluten-free version, it feels like a fairly glaring omission – and with modern food being what it is, it’s hard to plead a lack of knowledge these days. Nicely played, Ritz.
