We talk a lot about Costco’s prepared foods. A lot. But that’s because there’s so much to say! The big-box retailer’s deli and prepared foods sections move at a near-frantic pace, with new items appearing virtually every other week, others coming back, and international deli items prompting a lot of envy. It’s gotten to the point where it’s hard to keep track of what’s there in any given week.

And it’s also sometimes hard to remember that certain deli items…have been there the whole time. Like a faithful pet, or a partner who’s with you for the bad times and the good. The item we’re gonna talk about today is just that. Stuffed bell peppers – it’s time for your moment in the spotlight.

Costco Kirkland Signature Stuffed Bell Peppers With Ground Beef And Rice

Amongst the shiny new releases that pop up in Costco’s deli section sits its Kirkland Signature Stuffed Bell Peppers With Ground Beef And Rice, a perennial prepared meal that’s easy to overlook. I can understand why. Stuffed peppers are reliably delicious, but they don’t quite have the pizzazz that some of its other, perhaps more trendy meals have. As such, customers can often pass them by in favor of the newfangled options it pumps out on a near-constant basis, with people assuming that they just aren’t that good.

This was exactly the situation one Redditor found themselves in – until it all changed. “I’ve been a member for 4 years now and have never tried the stuffed bell peppers in the deli,” they said. For some reason they always scared me, and I assumed they’d be watery, tasteless and mushy.” That person went on to eat their words, and the peppers, too. “These are so much better than I thought they would be.” Other people quickly piped up in agreement, with one person saying these peppers are the only Costco prepared food they actually like. That said, some people did push back on this assessment, saying that they’re slightly lacking in punch and need help from hot sauce or extra cheese to really pop – but the general sentiment is that they’re pretty damn good.

Stuffed Success

As these peppers contain meat, rice, cheese, tomatoes, and herbs, they’re essentially a one-stop shop. You can cook and serve a couple of them with nothing else on the side, and they’ll serve as a hearty meal. However, as a big fan of any stuffed vegetable, I’m already imagining how I’d dish these up. A hunk of hearty, crusty bread would be a must, perched delicately on the side of my plate, and a simple green salad would also balance out the richness of the meat nicely. I also think these would go excellently with some corn muffins, or even – bear with me – a side of gnocchi, slicked lightly with olive oil and garlic. My tastebuds are alive with the thought of all these, people. And yours can be too, upon purchase of these sturdy, reliable stuffed peppers.
