To the team in charge of managing Costco’s prepared food selection: We see your work. You guys have been busy, and we respect it. Over the last few months, we’ve seen a fairly non-stop revolve of new and returning items in Costco’s deli and bakery sections. Last week, we were talking about its new Lemon Blondie Dessert Bars; a few weeks before that, we were discussing its Steak & Chicken Fajita Kits; and a few weeks before THAT, we were chatting about its Shrimp Ceviche. Like we said – busy.

And now, it’s time to bring you word of what some might consider a former fave, coming back through its doors like Odysseus after decades of being away from his family (I haven’t seen “The Odyssey” yet, but I couldn’t resist that one). Costco’s Italian sausage pasta is back.

Costco Italian Sausage & Pasta In Garlic Wine Sauce

About a week ago, @costcobuys on Instagram revealed that Costco’s Italian Sausage & Pasta in Garlic Wine Sauce is back in stores. This ready-to-go meal consists of orecchiette pasta coated in a roasted garlic and wine-inflected sauce, mixed with Italian sausage, grape tomatoes, spinach, and shredded parm. Like most of Costco’s other prepared meals, it’s hearty, bulky, and not exactly the cheapest option out there – but nor is it extortionate. This pasta costs $5.49 per pound, and most packs will come in at about $20.

Like many of Costco’s prepared meals, its Italian Sausage & Pasta in Garlic Wine Sauce isn’t a universally beloved option, but by and large, people like this one. One person in @costcobuys’ comment section called it “one of the best pre-mades,” while others on Reddit have pointed out how much sausage this thing has in it – which makes the price slightly easier to stomach, considering that Costco isn’t just loading it up with pasta. On the other hand, some folks have said that Costco goes too hard on the butter here; we never thought that would be a problem, but apparently, it is. You win some, you lose some.

Food, Glorious Food

The return of the Italian Sausage & Pasta in Garlic Wine Sauce is the latest news in a slew of stores concerning the retailer’s summer food offers – including some nifty exclusives. Last week, we were talking about Better Than Bouillon’s new ramen, which will be available only at Costco and only in stores in specific states. As far as we can tell, the Italian sausage pasta will be distributed more widely, but it might take a minute to drop near you. Until then, you’ll just have to wait (like Telemachus and Penelope – okay, I’ll stop).
