Costco’s New Meal Kit Feels Primed For Summer

It’s been a busy late spring and early summer for Costco, over in its prepared foods section. We’ve seen new releases and returning favorites pop up there pretty much every week recently, with the foods it’s stocking becoming increasingly suited to hot weather as we go. May saw its gyro kit come back to its aisles, and its brand new gnocchi kit (which, admittedly, didn’t feel as summery as the others) debut. Then, a couple of weeks back, it brought back its shrimp ceviche, and the people rejoiced. Well, most of them, anyway.

But it’s not done yet! Costco has just dropped another new meal kit, and it wants you to get your sizzle on. 

Costco Steak & Chicken Fajita Kit

As is so often the way, we found out about Costco’s Steak & Chicken Fajita Kit from @costcohotfinds, who’s really on the front line as far as new foods at the store are concerned. And this one looks pretty good, we must say – and definitely a good choice if you want a low-stress option for entertaining. 

In each kit, you get enough food for a dozen fajitas, with pre-sliced chicken and steak meat alongside peppers and onions, which you fry up. The kit also comes with a tub of salsa and cilantro lime crema, along with a creamy butter sauce, lime wedges, and a stack of tacos. Cast iron skillet not included, but you’ll want one to get that heat up there, naturally. The kit will set you back around $6.99 per pound. 

The Verdict Is In…

And people are, so far, into this one. “Had it last night. It was so good,” said one comment on @costcohotfinds’ post, with another saying, “I did it without the sauce but I was surprised how good it was.” Generally, people are getting on board with it – but there are a few criticisms mixed amongst the positive comments saying that it’s a tad salty, so you might want to bear that in mind if you’re looking for something lower-sodium. 

But hey, easy fajitas: We’ll take it. It’s been a week of fajita flavors, thanks to Taco Bell releasing its new Fajita Street Chalupas and Chicken Fajita Nacho Fries – and we’re not done yet! Is anyone going to come out of the woodwork for Friday? We’ll have to wait and see. Until then, Costco’s waiting for you to spend your hard-earned money.
