I have a confession to make. I could spend an unnecessary amount of time in convenience stores.

Particularly the ones in Asia. Give me a 7-Eleven in Thailand, a handful of baht, and absolutely no supervision, and I’ll emerge half an hour later with five things I’ve never seen before, three drinks, and something I bought purely because I liked the packaging. Once I came away with a toastie stuffed with spaghetti carbonara. Yes, I still dream about it.
So I’m quite pleased to see American 7-Eleven stores getting a little more adventurous with their food.
The chain has just introduced its new Flavors of Korea menu, featuring Korean BBQ pizza, gochujang wings, spicy dumplings, and a whole collection of other things I’d happily abandon my original dinner plans for.
There’s also a K-drama.
An actual K-drama. About convenience store food. Talk about upping the game.
What’s On 7-Eleven’s New Flavors of Korea Menu?
The limited-time menu launched October 28th at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes locations, and there’s quite a bit to choose from.
The bibigo Korean BBQ-Style Pizza comes topped with seasoned beef, caramelized onions, shoestring carrots, roasted garlic, green onions, bibigo Korean BBQ sauce, and a blend of mozzarella and cheddar. Carrots on pizza aren’t something I encounter all that often, but I’m willing to hear them out. Especially when there’s Korean BBQ involved.
Then we’ve got the Gochujang Boneless Wings, which might be my favorite addition to the lineup. Gochujang is a Korean fermented chili paste with a delicious combination of heat, sweetness, and savory flavor. I’m a big fan of the stuff, and chicken is a very good place to put it. You can get eight wings for $5, too.
The bibigo Spicy Chicken Dumplings are also available in a 10-piece serving for $5, which I think is a perfectly respectable amount of dumplings. Although I reserve the right to change my mind after eating all ten.
For sandwich lovers, there’s the K Town Chicken Salad Sando, alongside a K Noodle Salad for anyone after something a little lighter.
And then things get interesting. 7-Eleven has also introduced a Korean-Style BBQ Sauced Taquito and a Korean Style BBQ Seasoned Sausage. I don’t know who was sitting in a meeting and suggested putting Korean BBQ flavors into a taquito, but I’d like to shake their hand. Maybe even give them a hug. We’ll see how I feel after trying them.
There’s one more item, too. Participating Raise the Roost locations are serving a Seoul Style Sweet Heat Chicken Sandwich, giving us eight new things to consider in total.
I know I’d make a beeline for the wings and dumplings. Maybe grab a slice of pizza while I’m there. And a taquito. Look, nobody said I had to choose just one.
Why Is 7-Eleven Making A K-Drama?
Rather than simply releasing the menu and letting people get on with eating it, 7-Eleven has produced a seven-episode K-drama-inspired mini-series to go along with the food.
The series begins November 2nd, with new episodes arriving on Mondays and Thursdays through November 23rd on 7-Eleven and Speedway’s Instagram and TikTok accounts.
The food makes appearances throughout, and viewers can look out for discounts tied to the episodes.
I have several questions about the plot. Will there be a dramatic love triangle? A devastating betrayal? Someone standing in the rain, clutching a taquito and wondering where it all went wrong? I sincerely hope so.
I can’t say that I’ve ever felt compelled to watch a convenience store’s promotional videos before, but seven episodes of K-drama built around spicy chicken and pizza might just do it.
And as someone who’s spent a considerable amount of time wandering through Asian convenience stores admiring the snack selection, I rather like the idea of seeing more of those flavors in American locations.
The Flavors of Korea menu is only available for a limited time, so you’ll want to get your hands on anything that catches your eye while it’s around. As for me, I’m still thinking about the K-drama. If the taquito turns out to be the villain, I’m going to be devastated.
