Well folks, Christmastime is over. And since we would otherwise have no way of knowing this fact, grocery stores have gone ahead and clued us in by immediately putting away every trace of red and green and restocking their shelves with pink, red, and white as far as the eye can see. That’s right, as far as retailers are concerned it is Valentine’s Day already, and while I may have mixed feelings about everything that holiday represents on a personal level, on a “how many cool heart-shaped treats can I buy myself this year” level, I’m all for it. And seeing as I am all for it, it would make sense that many of the January Aldi finds we are most excited about mayyyyyy just hold a certain lovey-dovey geometrical shape that in no way resembles the very real organ that it represents. But don’t worry, there are lots of other items we are stoked for as well. Here’s what to buy at Aldi this month.
- Season’s Choice Chili Lime or Sweet Potato Fiery Hot Waffle Fries (Available January 15; $3.99)
-
Everyone with a favorite fry shape feels very passionately that their favorite fry shape is superior. And while I am a curly fry girl myself, I can recognize that there are clear benefits to a well-made, well-seasoned waffle fry. So for all you waffle fry fanatics out there, you should know that halfway through January, Aldi is going to have not one but two new kinds of waffle fries: a chili lime flavor made with regular potato, and a Fiery Hot flavor made with sweet potato. Now, a seasoned fry is one thing but a seasoned waffle fry is on a whole other level considering that it has extra crannies and nooks for all that good good seasoning, so if waffle fries are your jam I say add these to your list of what to buy at Aldi this month.

- Choceur Heart Shaped Cocoa Bombs – Milk Chocolate or White Chocolate Strawberry (Available January 8; $1.99)
-
In a way, this is a box of chocolate. Hot chocolate. These two hot chocolate bombs are shaped like hearts with little key holes in them, which is ironic seeing as these might just be the key to my heart. They come in White Chocolate Strawberry for a strawberry milk vibe and Milk Chocolate for a classic hot cocoa vibe. Both kinds of bombs are filled with chocolate chips and marshmallows, and not, as it turns out, one of those miniature rubber chickens (a girl can dream). But seeing as most people don’t want a McDonald’s-style toy in their hot chocolate bombs, I think what Aldi has elected to fill these with is honestly for the best and sounds pretty darn cozy.

- Mama Cozzi’s Pizza Kitchen Breakfast Pizzas (Available January 15; $4.99)
-
Okay, these are not Valentine’s Day themed—although I would not say no to breakfast pizza in bed on V Day—they just look good. There is a sausage and gravy-flavored pizza on a biscuit crust, as well as an option that has bacon, pork belly, pepper, and onion, also on a biscuit crust. To be honest they had me at buttery, flaky biscuit crust, but the toppings sound pretty fire as well, and both pizzas use a country-style gravy as the sauce. One of these and a big ol’ mug of coffee might just make my entire month.

- Priano Heart Shaped Ravioli (Available January 15; $3.99)
-
If you are tired of giving your loved one a “pizza” your heart, this year, try giving them a “pasta” your heart. “But Jessica, the pun doesn’t work like that!” I know, but you laughed, right? It’s okay, you can steal my joke—just make sure your s/o doesn’t read this specific article and you’re golden. Puns aside though, these pink heart-shaped ravioli filled with parmesan and truffle filling will show your person that you are quirky and lovable, but also a little fancy. You are basically Zooey Deschanel. And that’s pretty cool for you.

- Choceur Chocolate Donuts or Pie Bites (Available January 8; $4.99)
-
A box of chocolates? Psh—it’s been done. A bouquet of roses? More like a bouquet of cliché. A dozen of those weird rubber chickens? Well, I might just marry you, but that’s beside the point because Aldi’s got a different edible gift for your boo this year. That’s right, you can get your beloved a box of Valentine’s themed donuts that says “I’m Do-Nuts About You” or a box of assorted Valentine’s decorated pie slices that says “You’re My Sweetie Pie” on the front. If no rubber chickens were available, I would happily accept either of those options, and I am sure I am not alone in this opinion—donuts and pie over roses any day.
- Season’s Choice Veggie Fries — Ranch or Black Bean (Available now; $4.79)
-
These look awesome. They look kind of like Burger King chicken “fries,” except these are veggie. With the options of ranch or black bean, I can only hope that these are essentially ranch or Mexican-spices-flavored vegetarian chicken nuggets in stick form. And if that is in fact what they are, then I must have them.
