I’m starting a rumor. Aldi has a pizza fetish. Last week I reported on a pizza soup, something straight out of r/PizzaCrimes, that you can now buy at your local Aldi. And now there’s a mac and cheese pizza in the frozen aisle? What’s next, Aldi? Pizza chocolate? Pizza potato salad? Pizza bratwurst? (Okay pizza bratwurst sounds kinda fire.)

It’s called Mama Cozzi’s Thin Crust Macaroni & Cheese Pizza, and it’s a returning cult favorite.

Aldi usually brings this back in the springtime for a limited release. The “pizza” features a cheddar cheese sauce, elbow mac, mozzarella, and more cheddar cheese. I think the real selling point is the crispy thin crust, personally. Because at the end of the day, this is just a round flatbread. And you can put anything and everything on a flatbread, and no one will bat an eye.

Unlike Aldi’s pizza soup, which received a lukewarm welcome, people are pretty excited to see this odd little frozen pizza back in stores. (Some have also reported that it’s 50% off at their local Aldi, too, if that’s any incentive to try it.)

Apparently, Aldi’s mac & cheese pizza is a versatile food, because people cannot stop putting their own spin on it.

If mac & cheese pizza wasn’t enough, why not pickle, red onion, dill, shredded chicken, and hot sauce mac and cheese pizza? (I say that disparagingly, but it actually sounds and looks pretty good.) Someone also put ketchup on theirs and posted the photo to Reddit in what would appear to be some sort of bizarre humiliation ritual. Props for your bravery, sir.

We’ll have to get our hands on this one and see where it lines up in our Aldi pizza ranking. In the meantime, what should Aldi turn into a pizza next? Get freaky in the comments. Toodles!

Howdy! I’m a Sporked writer based in L.A., and you can find me overstaying my welcome at just about any coffee shop with free wifi, no matter the speed. Sadly, I can never move back to my home state, Florida, because even if the seafood is totally unmatched, there aren’t enough Mediterranean or Korean restaurants to keep me sane.
