Aldi’s generally not one to jump on viral trends. It’s not above them, per se, but the store generally focuses on offering the basics and everyday essentials rather than reaching for a social media presence. That’s not to say it doesn’t know how to both join the conversation and start conversations of its own, though: We saw that a few weeks ago when it started selling clear ice cubes, a move that prompted much chatter online, not least from us.

Now, it’s getting people talking again – this time, by bringing back a fruit product that had people running to stock up on the first time around. Let’s discuss.
Aldi Sweet Harvest Pineapple Spears in Coconut Water: Grab It Before It’s Gone
Last week, Allrecipes reported that Aldi is once again stocking its Sweet Harvest Pineapple Spears in Coconut Water. This might sound like a fairly unassuming product, but the first time they dropped, they caused more of a stir than you might think. Aldi customers and TikTokers alike moved as one to discuss how good they were – and one comment over on a Facebook post discussing the product last year gives a clue as to why. When we were in Hawaii…the Dole employees told us that sprinkling a little salt on fresh pineapple neutralizes the acid,” said an Aldi customer. “We thought that’s crazy…but it does! Just a tiny sprinkling…you won’t taste the salt and it actually makes the pineapple taste sweeter.”
As coconut water has sodium in it, that’s exactly what’s happening here: The ever-so-slight saltiness of the water amplifies that pineapple flavor, making it all the more tasty. No wonder people love this jar as much as they do. Sweet Harvest Pineapple Spears in Coconut Water appeared in the store’s July 8 ad, so they’re available now – but don’t sleep on them, as who knows how long they’ll be around.
You’ve Got Competition…
Aldi isn’t the only store selling pineapple spears in coconut water. Both Sam’s Club and Costco have their own versions, albeit in slightly larger proportions (as you’d probably expect, what with them being bulk-buy retailers and all). Aldi’s product, though, comes in a 24-ounce jar. The perfect size for getting your fill, while also making the case that there isn’t enough to share.
We’re kidding! We’d never be that ungenerous. Pick up your jar while you’re checking out the rest of its new products this week.
