Ranch dressing has always had a certain unhinged energy. It goes on pizza, wings, fries, and―if you’re doing it correctly―pretty much everything else. Americans have always known this. The rest of the world, apparently, did not. Until now.

The FIFA World Cup 2026™ has produced plenty of unexpected storylines, but one of the strangest has nothing to do with soccer. As international fans arrived in the U.S., many had their first encounter with ranch dressing and immediately understood the hype.
A Swedish fan posted on X: “Why did no one tell me ranch sauce is like crack? EUROPE WE NEED RANCH ASAP.” The replies from Americans were, predictably, a mix of pride and “we told you so” energy. The problem? Those fans wanted to take their newfound ranch obsession home―in bottles far too large to make it through airport security.
The TSA Had To Get Involved
The TSA, an agency with slightly bigger things to worry about, suddenly found itself explaining one very important rule: ranch dressing counts as a liquid. The agency posted reminders that ranch bottles exceeding 3.4 ounces must go in checked luggage, while also encouraging travelers not to attempt bringing oversized bottles through security. In true internet fashion, TSA turned the moment into content, posting multiple ranch-related reminders during the tournament.
“One World. One Ranch,” read one post. “Some heroes wear capes. Others bring ranch,” read another. Days since the last airport ranch incident: 0.
Kraft To The Rescue
Naturally, Kraft saw an opportunity and ran with it.
On June 19, the brand launched a limited-edition “TSA Compliant Ranch” travel kit, complete with ranch packets, a clear liquids bag, and a ranch-bottle-shaped luggage tag for anyone committed to travelling with America’s favourite condiment.
“Some visitors leave with souvenirs,” Kraft wrote on Instagram. “Others leave with America’s favorite dressing.” Hidden Valley also joined the conversation, pointing out that powdered ranch packets have long been an airport-friendly workaround for dedicated ranch fans.
America’s Ranch Obsession Isn’t Going Anywhere
Ranch has gone far beyond being a salad dressing. It’s a dip, a topping, a chip flavor, a pizza companion, and a full-blown part of American food culture. A YouGov poll earlier this year found ranch was the only salad dressing kept at home by a majority of Americans―proving that international visitors might not have discovered ranch until now, but the obsession has been building for decades.
The TSA drama may have started as a travel mishap, but it revealed something bigger: Americans weren’t exaggerating about ranch after all. The rest of the world is just finally catching on.
