Best Canned Micheladas for Spicy Beer Lovers

The best canned micheladas are tomatoey, salty, and savory. They come in gigantic cans and are perfect for pairing with a meal or enjoying at a BBQ. If you haven’t had a michelada or chelada, you’re missing out! They’re delicious. This beer cocktail is a Mexican classic and consists of beer, lime, salt, some kind of juice, and/or spices. Cheladas are typically just beer, lime, and salt. My favorite version has tomato juice, lots of lime, salt, and anything that’ll make it very spicy.

I’ve had lots of homemade micheladas and I was unsure how these canned micheladas would stack up. Lucky for me (and all of you), canned micheladas are delicious! There are so many great options currently on the market that it was hard to narrow this list down. Through hard work and lots of drinking, I have come to the conclusion that these are the best canned micheladas you can buy.

Best for Beer Lovers

Modelo Chelada Limon Y Sal

Let’s be real: This tastes like beer. If you’re looking for a the best canned chelada for beer lovers, this is your guy. That being said, I don’t really like drinking beer, but I thought this was delicious. The lime and salt really take it to the next level and make it feel special. This would be absolutely fantastic with al pastor tacos topped with cilantro and raw onion or a big bowl of ceviche.

Best Spicy

Budweiser Chelada Picante with Clamato

If you’re like me and you want a Michelada with an actual kick of heat, grab this Budweiser Chelada Picante with Clamato. It’s actually spicy! Plus, the Clamato adds a great salty, umami flavor without being fishy at all. This is like salsa and gazpacho and your favorite beer all rolled into one. That might sound weird, but it’s delicious!

Best Fruity

Estrella Jalisco Tropical Chamoy Michelada with Clamato

Micheladas with tomato and sweet fruit have never really made sense to me. Sweet AND tomato? No, thank you. This changed my mind, though! You get fruitiness without getting too much sweetness. It pairs perfectly with the salty, tangy Clamato. I always love a product that can change my mind and Estrella definitely did that! This is the best michelada if you like ’em fruity.

Best for Tomato Fans

Sol Chelada

I want a canned michelada that has a strong tomato flavor. I know that’s not for everyone, but it is for me! If it’s not tomato-forward, what’s the point? This Sol Chelada michelada has a wonderful fresh tomato flavor that was unparalleled in our taste test. If you’re more into tomato juice than beer but are still trying to party, this is the option for you—and it’s easily one of the best canned chelada brands we tried.

Best Citrus

Bud Light Extra Lime Chelada with Clamato

Bud Light’s Extra Lime Chelada with Clamato is for flavor lovers. It punches you in the face with citrusy, salty, lightly fishy (and I mean that in a good way) flavor. This is so flavorful that it almost tastes like soup (once again, I meant that in a good way). This drink will absolutely not be for everyone, but it is one of the best canned michelada brands to me.

Best of the Best

Dos Equis Original Michelada

This is not just the best canned michelada, it’s the best canned cocktail I’ve ever had. I cannot believe it tastes so good. It tastes like it’s made with freshly squeezed tomato juice! It’s tart, sour, a little bit sweet, and a touch salty. It has the perfect amount of carbonation. I have literally zero notes. I love you, Dos Equis Original Michelada!

  • My vegan brother bought the regular Bud Light with clamato, not noticing the big “CLAMATO” on the can. He liked it, then was sad when I told him it had clams in it.
