I don’t consider myself a coffee snob. I instead like to consider my tolerance for coffee in all its flavors to be fairly broad. Do I drink instant coffee when I don’t have time to brew a fresh pot? Yes. Do I also have a bean grinder that I use most mornings, and do I bloom my coffee correctly, almost obsessively, using up valuable time I could be using elsewhere? Also yes. I like the good stuff – and I don’t complain when it’s not the best. Everything’s fine.

I do like to know which coffee’s worth buying, though – and so a recent discussion between Costco customers about which of its coffee products is the best had me interested. If you’ve ever wondered which ones you should be getting from the store, this one might be for you.

The Great Costco Coffee Debate Of 2026

The discussion on Costco’s coffee came, as so many things these days online do, via Reddit. Last week, a customer posted a thread asking others what the best coffee is at Costco, highlighting its vast selection and saying that it left them a bit baffled as to what to get. Thankfully, almost 200 comments later, there are a few clear frontrunners.

The first are the options in its Kirkland Signature Organic single-origin range, which currently has beans from Mexico, Ethiopia, and Sumatra, as well as a decaf coffee from Colombia. Customers specifically highlighted the Mexican coffee as one of the best, praising its consistency over the last few years. Costco can switch up the range here, though, so don’t expect it to remain static – but generally speaking, they’re all pretty decent.

Other Costco customers also love its dark roast Kirkland Signature Colombian Supremo Coffee, a staple of its coffee line and a go-to for a lot of people, thanks again to its consistently good flavor. Coming in massive cans, it’ll keep you going for a long time – although it should be noted that preground coffee doesn’t have the same intensity as freshly ground coffee beans, so here, you’re swapping flavor for convenience. It’s still a very solid option, though. Kirkland’s French Roast also got another shout-out from customers as a reliable choice.

It’s Not All Kirkland Signature

Costco also stocks name-brand coffees, and while these can vary from store to store, a fair few customers have pitched in with non-Kirkland favorites. Mt. Comfort is a name that’s thrown around a lot as a premium choice, and rightly so: This specialty coffee brand uses consistently excellent, complex-tasting, well-sourced beans, but doesn’t break the bank. Colectivo and Ruta Maya are two other brands worth keeping an eye out for in select Costco locations.
