We’ve tasted a TON of frozen meals. Need proof? Check out our rankings for the best frozen Indian meals, skillet meals, Banquet meals, Amy’s meals, Stouffer’s meals—I could go on but it’d be easier for you to just search “frozen” on this site and find out the extent of our frozen meal expertise for yourself. While a majority of frozen meals are made with chicken, my favorites have always been the frozen shrimp meals. Shrimp freezes really well. It has a mild flavor. It’s bite-sized. There’s not enough frozen shrimp dinners, in my opinion.

Scott & Jon's Shrimp Alfredo Pasta Bowl

Best Frozen Shrimp Alfredo

Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Alfredo Pasta Bowl

Scott and Jon have kind of cornered the market on frozen shrimp meals. While not all of them are hits (the scampi lacks flavor, IMO), most of them are pretty darn good. Out of all their shrimp pastas, this is the best one to buy. It’s creamy and buttery and garlicky. The penne is ridged so the sauce clings. The broccoli is actually crisp. And the shrimp are tender. You can’t do better than this if you’re looking for the best frozen shrimp alfredo.

Best Frozen Shrimp Pasta for a Family

Bertolli Shrimp Penne & Asparagus

This frozen shrimp meal took the number one spot in our Bertolli frozen meals taste test. You get penne, shrimp, asparagus, and bell peppers all in a tomato basil sauce. And that tomato basil sauce rocks—it tastes like real, fresh tomato and olive oil. It all comes together to taste practically homemade, with crunchy asparagus and sweet shrimp. If you’re looking for a quick family dinner, this is a great option.

Dolly Parton’s Shrimp and Grits

Best Frozen Shrimp & Grits

Dolly Parton’s Shrimp & Grits

Dolly makes good food—and she makes a lot of it. She makes baking mixes, pancake syrup, frostings, and shockingly good Southern-inspired frozen meals. Her frozen shrimp and grits is particularly good. It comes packed with more shrimp than you typically get in a frozen shrimp meal, along with creamy, cheesy grits, and chunks of tomato that don’t immediately turn to mush. It doesn’t have much competition in the category, but this is the best frozen shrimp and grits for sure.

Best Frozen Shrimp Scampi

Lean Cuisine Protein Kick Shrimp Scampi

Yep, the best frozen shrimp scampi we’ve tried is a Lean Cuisine frozen meal. I’m just as surprised as you are. But it’s really quite tasty. The shrimp stay firm, the pasta is well-cooked, and the sauce is bright and not too heavy and genuinely tastes like it was made with wine. Add some frozen peas and you’re eating like a dang king.

Scott and Jon’s Shrimp Fried Rice

Best Frozen Shrimp Fried Rice

Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Fried Rice

It’s our old buddies Scott and Jon again! And this time they’ve taken on shrimp fried rice. This rice bowl is good. The rice stays al dente and the shrimp cooks up perfectly, plus you get a good amount of vegetables (even if it is just broccoli and peppers). But the best thing is the sauce. So much frozen fried rice is bland as can be. But this frozen fried rice comes with a super flavorful sauce that you mix in. The egg is…not amazing. Microwaved egg is tough. But everything else slaps.

About the Author

Justine Sterling

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
