The Best H Mart Snacks We Spotted on a Recent Visit

When you visit H Mart, your first impulse might be to head directly to the frozen section to stock up on dumplings, scallion pancakes, and frozen fried rice, but first thing’s first—you have to hit up the snack aisle. The beloved Korean-American grocery store is absolutely packed with chips and crackers in flavors you just won’t find in other American grocery stores. Ready to take your taste buds on a journey? Here are some of the best H Mart snacks we spotted on a recent visit to our local store.

Calbee Takoyaki Balls

That’s right, one of the best H Mart snacks are these octopus-flavored corn balls! Not only are these cute, poppable, and delicious but they’re an accessible glimpse at the exciting flavors that H Mart has in store for us. There are a lot of interesting chip flavors to choose from in the snack aisle at H Mart, but you can leave the cheddar chips and corn snacks to the less adventurous. Try these and then head to the frozen aisle for real takoyaki.

Nongshim Shrimp Cracker Spicy Flavor

Crisp, spicy, umami blasted and ready to be shoveled out of the bag and into your mouth. What more could you ask for from the best snacks at H Mart? Well, maybe a mint or a chance to brush your teeth after you’re done. But that’s in the future. Live in the now and give in to the beauty of these shrimp crackers.

Lay’s Grilled Squid Flavored Chips

The first thing I look for when I visit an international grocery store? Unfamiliar flavors from a familiar brand. You’re probably well aware that Kit Kat and Oreo are putting out a bunch of cool flavors around the world, but I don’t see enough commotion about Lay’s. The potato chip giant is putting out some really incredible choices, from beer to Subway teriyaki chicken, but couldn’t find either of those in H Mart. What I could find was a bag of grilled squid Lay’s, so I think that’s a fine choice.

Lotte Choco Pie Black Sugar Milk Tea

There’s a whole wall of Choco Pies at my local H Mart. Okay, “whole wall” is a little hyperbolic, but it’s not too far off. There are a lot, so we have to include at least one flavor in our H Mart snacks haul. If you’re not familiar, Choco Pies are basically Moon Pies. They consist of two cookie-like cakes, a marshmallow middle, all in a fudgey coating. In the H Mart snack aisle, you’ll find variations including green tea and black sugar milk tea. I’m a boba fan, so I couldn’t resist the latter.

Haitai French Pie Apple Biscuit

Alongside the Choco Pies you’ll find Haitai’s French pies. These are for the chocolate averse, like Sporked‘s own Ariana Losch. I see you and I respect you. Or if you’ve ever dreamt of eating pie on the go. This is the product for you! These little desserts are made of flaky pastry that’s filled with apple jam and individually wrapped, so they’re ready to go wherever you need a quick, sweet treat.

Tao Kae Noi Crispy Seaweed Gochujang Flavor

Breaking news: You can actually just snack on seaweed. Like straight up! You don’t have to make a fancy hand roll or put it in ramen or miso soup. The best H Mart snacks include crispy seaweed sheets in interesting flavors, like gochujang (red chili paste). Enjoy a salty, spicy snack that’s incredibly low cal (this entire bag has 220 calories).
