High protein yogurt can be a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth while making gains. But, oh no! There are so many high protein yogurt brands! How can I choose?! Follow me, friend, for I have tasted a whole lot of options (21 different cupfuls, to be precise) and have reported my findings.
Why trust me?
If you’ve ever watched Brooklyn Nine-Nine, you know that Terry loves yogurt. Hebba also loves yogurt. For those that do not read the byline, Hebba is my name. “Hebba” is not, despite many spell-checks’ claims, a misspelling of “herbal.” I have at least one yogurt a day. I own multiple spoons dedicated to just yogurt. I have long thought that I’ve been qualified to usurp Jamie Lee Curtis as a yogurt spokesperson, especially because she really squandered the opportunity to go by “Jamie Lee Curd-is.”
But, while Terry and I share a love of yogurt, we do not *quite* share a physique. However, you know what could help get me there? Protein…and years of dedication and hard work. In the short term, though, the multitude of protein-packed yogurts lining the shelves these days will certainly make me happy, if not immediately jacked.
How I tasted the high-protein yogurt
The taste test process was simple. I made sure to taste every high protein yogurt straight out of the fridge and conducted the essential steps of every yogurt eating experience: open the yogurt, lick the lid, give a stir, do a lil’ booty shake because you have your yogurt so life is good.
As I said, I love yogurt, but here’s the best high protein yogurt—including high protein Greek yogurt and high protein low sugar yogurt—to buy.

- Yoplait Protein Vanilla (15g protein)
-
Off the bat, I could tell this was the sweetest of the vanilla options. I peeled back that lid and was immediately taken back to my high school days when frozen yogurt shops were all the rage. The texture is much thinner than the other higher protein yogurts I tried, so this is a great choice for those who might be put off by the glopiness of Greek yogurt. It tastes like Yoplait doubled down on the dessert angle, but it comes at the price of tasting (and after-tasting) like artificial sweetener even though it isn’t sugar-free (it has 3g sugar). I personally don’t mind it, but what I do mind is the packaging. The tall, thin container makes it difficult to get your spoon in and around, especially towards the bottom. I never thought I’d risk scraping my knuckles trying to eat yogurt, but here we are. 3/10 sporks for packaging, but overall 8/10 sporks.

- Oikos Pro Vanilla (23g protein)

This zero sugar high protein yogurt is less like vanilla yogurt and more like a slightly sweetened but otherwise unflavored yogurt. It is very good, but it doesn’t have the distinct vanilla flavor that some of the other options have. Still, its subtlety makes this the best high protein yogurt to use as a blank canvas for sweet granola or sliced fruits. Or you can enjoy it on its own if you like your treats a little on the less-sugary side.

- Chobani 20g Protein Vanilla (20g protein)
-
This is the best high protein yogurt to enjoy as a little treat after your morning toast and eggs. It has a wonderful aroma that walks the line between tangy yogurt and sweet vanilla. And it’s just sweet enough without feeling too much like dessert. There’s a distinct Greek yogurt tang that comes through at the end, but it’s a great finish to the initial sweetness and there’s no bitter, artificial aftertaste. The texture is smooth, thick, and luxurious, and a little spoonful of this high protein Greek yogurt goes a long way.

- :ratio Protein Yogurt Strawberry (25g protein)
-
I’m not usually the biggest strawberry yogurt fan, but my first note on this high protein low sugar yogurt was “yum!” I had a few more bites to confirm and, indeed, yum! For those looking to maximize protein per bite, each 150g container has a whopping 25g of protein. The macros had me worried that it was going to be gritty and taste like a chore, but it’s sweet with a slight tang, and a thick, smooth texture. Macros aside, I preferred its flavor to the other strawberry options.

- Chobani 20g Protein Mango (20g protein)
-
This was not only my favorite fruit flavor, but my favorite high protein yogurt overall. Chobani gets bonus points for venturing outside of the standard yogurt fruits like strawberry and cherry. The subtle mango aroma didn’t excite me too much, but the first bite delivered big mango flavor, while still tasting and feeling like creamy, dreamy yogurt. I’ll buy this high protein yogurt again.
