The Best Sherbet…or Is It Sherbert?

The best sherbet is creamy, bright, and fruity. It’s nostalgic and delicious. And, in my opinion, it’s underrated.

Not enough people are talking about sherbet these days and I don’t understand why. It’s a refreshing summer treat and a great alternative to ice cream. But I’ll admit that before this taste test, I was one of those people. Now, I’m here to shout the good news from the mountain tops: Sherbet is incredible and you should be eating more of it! We tasted a ton of different sherbet options to find the best sherbet you can buy at the grocery store. We were looking for something rich, citrusy, and sweet without being too sweet. We also wanted a sherbet that didn’t taste artificial. Oh, and is it sher-bet or sher-bert? We’ll let you decide.

Best Sweet Orange

Aldi Sundae Shoppe Orange Sherbet

If you like your citrus more sweet than tangy, Aldi makes the best orange sherbet for you. This mild orange sherbet tastes so fresh. It’s the perfect way to end a meal on a hot summer day. Plus, you can get a whole quart of the stuff for less than $3. This is the best sherbet to grab if you’re having kids over for a summertime birthday party.

Baskin Robbins Wild ‘n Reckless Sherbet

First of all, how fun is it that this sherbet is called Wild ‘n Reckless? It sounds more like a lip gloss flavor than a frozen dessert flavor. While this sherbet isn’t actually wild or reckless, it is different and fun. It’s one of the few flavors we found that isn’t citrus based. Instead, it consists of blue raspberry, green apple, and fruit punch, all swirled together. It’s super fruity. If you aren’t the biggest lover of citrus, this is the best sherbet for you.

Best Rainbow

Baskin Robbins Rainbow Sherbet

This is one of the best rainbow sherbet brands we tasted because each individual flavor really pops. You get pineapple, orange, and raspberry. This is another one that isn’t as fruit-forward, but it does have an acidity from the orange. Plus, all the Baskin Robbins flavors are super creamy. When it comes to finding the best sherbet, Baskin Robbins is a good option.

As a citrus freak, this was my personal favorite sherbet we tried. The orange is sweet and tangy, and the texture is perfectly smooth. The container is huge and affordable. I can’t believe I’ve been unaware of the wonder that is Signature Select sherbet for so long. I will be buying this regularly from here on out.
