The 5 Best Things We Ate This Week (Sep. 19-23)

Each week, the Sporked team sidles up to the tasting table and sets out to find the absolute best of the best packaged foods, the gold hidden in the grocery aisles. Each week we’ll bring you five standouts that truly rocked our taste buds and changed our lives—or at least our buying habits. Here are the best things we ate this week.

Cheez-It Snap’d Jalapeño Jack

Two snaps up for Cheez-It Snap’d Jalapeño Jack, which really wowed us compared to some the other Cheez-It varieties we tasted. We were blown away by their crunch, as well as the piquant, fruity flavor of the jalapeño—it works so nicely with the bold flavor of Jack cheese. These chips are pretty versatile and would be good on a sandwich or would really shine as a substitute for Fritos in a chili pie.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Bats

The peanut butter-to-chocolate ratio in a Reese’s Peanut Butter Bat is perfection. Even guest taster Trevor Evarts, self-proclaimed Reese’s Pumpkins enthusiast, agreed that the bat really can’t be beat. In Sporked staff writer Jordan Myrick’s opinion Reese’s Pumpkins contain faaaar too much peanut butter, which means the saltiness overpowers the sweetness of the chocolate. But Reese’s Bats say “no no” to too much PB and “yes yes” to the perfect ratio. Also, bats are just cute!

Pillsbury Creamy Supreme Chocolate Fudge Frosting

Jordan swears by this Pillsbury Creamy Supreme frosting—and they swearswear that it is better than every other frosting on the market. It’s so smooth and creamy and the chocolate flavor tastes really bright. This rich, creamy frosting will turn any sad cake into a glad cake by upping its flavor factor by 3,000%. 10/10, would try again.

King’s Hawaiian Savory Butter Dinner Rolls

Everyone is familiar with King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, which are buttery and melt in your mouth, but this was our first time trying their savory counterparts––which, get this, are also buttery and melt in your mouth. These rolls are easy to pull apart and would pair well with anything on a Thanksgiving table. You can catch us at the grocery store this November with a carts full of King’s Hawaiian Savory Butter Dinner Rolls—no shame.

Patti’s Good Life Mac & Cheese

If you think Patti LaBelle’s voice is amazing, just wait until you try her frozen mac & cheese. It is so very flavorful because Patti is big on butter (honestly, don’t look at the fat content on the box if you want to blithely enjoy your meal). She’s also big on seasoning and we can say with 100% certainty that this mac & cheese is anything but bland. Patti, please keep doin your thing.
