Best Vegetable Juice That Actually Tastes Good

Vegetable juice is what we all used to drink before green juice took over. But there’s still space for the best vegetable juice in your fridge. Like, actual vegetable juice—not fruit juice with a couple of carrots or celery thrown into the mix. We’re talking about real vegetable juice that is pure vegetable, so you can drink your daily veggie quota in one savory quaff.

In our tasting, we were looking for vibrant flavor, not too much sugar, and a texture that was thinner than soup. And we chose vegetable juices that were not only good to drink on their own, but also to use in other drinks and recipes.

If you think all vegetable juices taste the same, you are so very wrong. Some were weirdly sweet. Others were bland. Others were just plain bad. If you really want the best vegetable juice that actually tastes good, it’s of utmost importance that you read this list. You don’t have control over everything in your life, but this is one thing you can have ownership over. It will make you feel good to buy the best beet juice. It won’t replace therapy, but it’ll move the needle.

We tasted through a slew of vegetable juices for this ranking, including tomato-forward V8 and V8 variations, as well as plain carrot juice and beet juice. So, no matter your taste in vegetable juice—whether you like a blend of veggies or a juice that focuses on one—we have the best vegetable juices for you on this list.

Biotta Beet Juice

Best Beet Juice

Biotta Beet Juice

A lot of the beet juice we tried was pretty good. But this one takes the title of best beet juice to buy because it tastes like pure, roasted beets. It is beet essence distilled into a liquid. I don’t know anyone who drinks a full glass of beet juice, but if that’s your style, then I think you might want to dilute this pick a bit. It has so much concentrated flavor and it packs 22g of sugar per serving. So mellow it out with some water (sparkling or still), mix it with another juice (carrot would be a good pick), or toss it into a smoothie. Personally, I think this is the best beet juice to buy to mix into cocktails. Mezcal Beet Margarita? You betcha. Just don’t forget the canned beet garnish.

RW Knudsen Carrot Ginger Turmeric

Best Ginger Carrot Juice

RW Knudsen Carrot Ginger Turmeric

Ginger gets me every time. If you want me to like a beverage, just add some ginger. I’ll tell you how zingy and zippy it is and take another gulp. And this carrot juice is no exception. It’s super gingery—a little spicy and really bright. For me, this is the best carrot juice for both a morning drink (it’ll wake up your palate and clear your sinuses and get you going) and an evening cocktail (ginger is great with most spirits). Plus, there’s turmeric if you’re interested in a carrot juice with anti-inflammatory properties. It’s not too sweet—a lot of carrot juices are—it ends savory and tangy. Looking for the best carrot juice plus extras? Look no further.

Bolthouse Farms Organic Carrot

Best Carrot Juice

Bolthouse Farms Organic Carrot

If you don’t want anything but pure carrot juice, then this is the best carrot juice to buy. It’s quite sweet, but not like sugar (it only has 13g of sugar, which isn’t nothing but it’s not a ton). It’s sweet like roasted carrots are sweet. It’s made from both fresh-harvested carrots and upcycled carrots, so you can feel good about helping counteract food waste. But mostly, it’s extremely refreshing when you drink it ice cold. You can gulp down a glass or use it in a creamy carrot soup or splash some into a vinaigrette. If your favorite vegetable is a carrot, then this is the best vegetable juice to buy.

V8 Original

Best Tomatoey Veg Juice

V8 Original

You know it. You love it (or your grandfather probably does). You probably used it to make poor excuses for Bloody Marys in college (I did). It’s V8 Original! I bet you expected this to be the best vegetable juice. It’s pretty darn close. But it’s very, very tomato-y. You can sorta taste some carrot in the mix, but there aren’t a lot of other vegetable flavors in there. So, it’ll have to put up with the number two spot. If you like tomato juice but you want the nutritious benefit of other vegetables, then this is definitely the best vegetable juice. It’s thick and rich and savory. It’s V8.

Kroger Low Sodium Vegetable Juice

Best of the Best

Kroger Low Sodium Vegetable Juice

The best low sodium vegetable juice is also the best vegetable juice, overall. It really, really tastes like a blend of vegetables. You can taste not just the tomato but the carrot and the watercress, as well, which give it a healthy bite. It’s like green juice—but it’s red. If you’re looking for pure vegetable juice without a load of salt (but still enough to balance out the vegetation), then this is for sure the best vegetable juice of all the best vegetable juices to buy.
