The Burger King Ice Cream Burger We Wish Was Available Worldwide

You know what there aren’t enough of? Ice cream burgers. Yeah, I said it! This year, we’ve seen an uptick in meat-shaped ice cream, and to be honest, I’m not sure about a lot of it – but ice cream in the shape of a burger, or an approximation or adaptation of it, makes sense to me. When it’s done right, it’s a cunningly designed ice cream sandwich, with the layers you’d expect in the likes of a sundae, but in portable form. The less it looks like actual meat, the better, but when they take inspiration from a burger’s construction, it works.

Proof of my belief in this could recently be found at Burger King France, which revived a duo of ice cream burgers that I veeeery much like the look of. An example of the concept done right, I feel.

Burger King France Ice Cream Burgers

Last month, Burger King France rolled out two ice cream sandwiches, which Foodbeast noted felt decidedly space-aged. These enclosed burgers look like UFOs, what with their rimmed edge and bulbous effect on either side – but there’s nothing unidentified about the interior. Instead, the ice cream sandwiches come either with a layer of Biscoff spread and cookie crumbles or Nutella and hazelnut crumbles, both underpinned by vanilla ice cream. The outside is a thin layer of brioche, stamped with a BK logo on the top. Oh, and the brioche is warm. 

So, there’s texture, flavor, and temperature dynamics all going on at once here. The burgers can’t be delivered – all that sitting next to hot food wouldn’t do them any good – so they have to be ordered in person or for pickup. It’s worth pointing out that these aren’t entirely new: BK France first rolled them out last year, but they were clearly popular enough to bring back for another spin. 

And…Are They Any Good?

According to customer reviews, yes, they are! These ice cream burgers/sandwiches/call them what you wish have been given a 10/10 rating by some people, who say that Burger King has created something pretty delicious here. My only quibble is that in all the actual pictures I’ve seen (not the product images, but the actual, real-life sandwich images), the filling doesn’t quite look as generous as I’d hope.

Is that not always the way with fast food, though? Burger King: It’s time to bring this one to a wider audience. The people deserve it.
