Like celebrities that have fallen out of favor and are looking to make a comeback, Burger King is on a redemption tour. It’s not trying to tell its side of the story, celeb-style; it’s more that it’s maaaaybe realised that people haven’t been that happy with it in the last few years. 2026 has seen a big push by the chain to bring a sense of care, customer focus, and attentiveness to its food quality back to the brand – and it’s just announced two new ways that it’s trying to do that, with a new employee role and a new guarantee.

Your Way Champion
Yesterday, Burger King announced in a press release that it would be “launching the next chapter in its brand transformation,” following on from its Listening Initiative, in which CEO Tom Curtis gave out his phone number for customers to share their thoughts. Inspired by this initiative, the restaurant revealed that it would be introducing the Your Way Champion, a reconfigured in-store restaurant manager role.
The job of the Your Way Champion is to act as a point of contact for customers during their Burger King visit. This employee’s role will be to welcome diners into each store, double-check orders and customizations, and be there to make things right when stuff goes wrong. The hope is that BK’s customers will feel more tended to and listened to.
Whopper Guarantee
Alongside the launch of the Your Way Champion role, Burger King also announced its new Whopper Guarantee to ensure that its most popular sandwich stands up to scrutiny every time. If a guest receives a Whopper that they’re not happy with, Burger King will remake it on the spot – but it’ll also give you your next one for free. To do this, the restaurant says that all customers have to do is scan the QR code inside their Whopper box to receive a code that they can use to redeem a free burger next time. There’s no sense yet of how this will be managed to ensure that people aren’t just claiming free Whoppers all the time, but we’re sure it’s got a plan for that.
How Else Has Burger King Been Trying To Improve?
Well, it’s been a lot. Earlier this year, Burger King changed its Whopper recipe in a very high-profile fashion, promising a better burger that customers largely felt it delivered on. Alongside bringing back beloved, fan-favorite menu items, it’s also been increasing Curtis’ presence, with the Listening Initiative and with a public-facing shift caught on Instagram, in a bid, it seems, to give him a sense of having his boots on the ground of the business.
That Insta video was…a little awkward, to be honest – but it did reaffirm that BK’s mission this year is to get back to greatness. And customers are slowly but surely recognizing the work it’s been doing. It’s a stretch to say it’s completely turned things around, but Burger King feels like it might, just might, be on the up.
