We don’t quite know when ice cream companies all decided to start making their products taste like cake – but we know that it did happen, and we know that now, they’re everywhere. Jeni’s ice cream has a birthday cake flavor (which is very good), the folks over at Halo Top have a birthday cake option that’s diet-friendly, and Publix has just dropped a bunch of limited-time flavors that have no less than three cake options. Everyone’s doing it, and if you’re not, then you’re missing out.

Well, Drumstick didn’t want to be the last company standing, did it? Nope – and so now it’s put out a Cake Pop flavor which looks so, sooooo good. Here’s what you need to know, and where you can find it.

We’ll Be Making Many Happy Returns to This Ice Cream

Drumstick’s Cake Pop Cone has been teased for a while: Instagram snack guru @markie_devo announced that it was on its way months ago, setting hearts a-flutter for its eventual arrival. That arrival has now, well, arrived, with Snackolator saying that the cone can be found in Kroger, although we’ve also spied it on the Dollar General and Hy-Vee websites so far. We’d imagine that it’ll be rolled out across all the major retailers if it does well enough, but for now, you might have to do a little digging; you can check out where it’s being sold near you on its website

As for how it’s going down…well, people are big fans. Both Snackolator and the commenters on its post broadly agree that Drumstick’s Cake Pop flavor rocks, and that once bought, they disappear pretty quickly. Drumstick Cake Pop consists of cake-flavored ice cream that wraps around a pink frosting center, and which is encased in a frosting-flavored coating. It’s finished with a bunch of rainbow sprinkles, and the cone itself has a little nugget of milk chocolate at the bottom, as is customary with Drumstick ice creams. Some people have said that they wish that this were white chocolate instead of milk, which would definitely make sense – but look, we can’t win them all, can we?

Drumming Up Excitement with Its New Flavor

Drumstick has been no stranger to new flavors over the last few years, but honestly, not all of them have been exceptional. When we taste-tested the Blue Raspberry Slurpee Drumstick, we found it to be totally fine, but there was something about the blue raspberry that didn’t quite work in cone format. On the other hand, we were big, big fans of its Chocolate Peanut Butter Drumstick (but then those flavors are destined to be combined in an ice cream, so that one was hardly surprising).

Are you gonna be giving this one a try? If so, can you send a box over to Sporked HQ? ‘Cos we’re ready for it.
