Canada Dry just dropped a new ginger ale flavor, Canada Dry Strawberry Fruit Splash, and naturally the first question on my mind is: “How would ginger ale enthusiast and captain of the Montreal Metros, Shane Hollander, feel about this?” So I will be reviewing this new Canada Dry flavor from the perspective of a fictional star hockey player who loves ginger ale more than he loves his own boyfriend (you know it’s true), because it’s Monday morning and I need to start this work week off with a little joy, okay?

Pros: “Fruit splash” is a great name for this; the strawberry flavor tastes like real, fresh fruit juice. If you didn’t know what you were sipping, you might guess that it’s a mellow, bubbly, not-too-sweet strawberry soda. But is it ginger ale? Eh…
Cons: Canada Dry had one flavor that tasted like true ginger ale, and that was the now-discontinued Canada Dry Bold. That’s the only Canada Dry flavor that Shane Hollander would approve of. Even the concept of a strawberry-flavored ginger ale would be a hard sell for him. (It was a hard sell for me.) For better or worse, you just aren’t getting any ginger bite to speak of. But that’s Canada Dry for you. Sorry, not sorry!
Verdict: As a strawberry soda, this is pretty yummy. But it’s not a ginger ale. Ilya would buy this just to tease his boyfriend, take one sip, and dump the rest into his plants. Shane, like all of us, deserves real ginger ale, end of story. (I, uh, still kinda like it though.)
Howdy! I’m a Sporked writer based in L.A., and you can find me overstaying my welcome at just about any coffee shop with free wifi, no matter the speed. Sadly, I can never move back to my home state, Florida, because even if the seafood is totally unmatched, there aren’t enough Mediterranean or Korean restaurants to keep me sane.
