Three things in life are inevitable: death, taxes, and Frito-Lay releasing more snacks than we can keep up with! On the docket for today? A new exclusive flavor of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos that just hit Walmart stores: Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Cheddar BBQ. Are these new Flamin’ Hot Cheetos fire or are they a flop? Read on for our official review.
Pros: Folks, these new Cheetos are some of the most authentic BBQ snacks I have ever tasted. They almost taste like someone poured BBQ sauce into the bag and shook it up. The smoky barbecue flavor combines very well with the cheddar flavor, which is definitely cheesier than your average Cheeto.
Cons: For being labeled as a Flamin’ Hot product, these are disappointingly not very hot. Even compared to standard Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, I find these to be quite mild. Though a slow heat did build over time, it was only after I ate almost half the bag (no judgement, please, I’m a professional food taste tester and this is part of the job) that I started experiencing any level of heat. When I have a Flamin’ Hot snack, I expect it to knock my socks off with the first bite. My socks are still firmly in place, unfortunately.
Consensus: Flamin’ Hot Cheddar BBQ are deliciously flavorful and I do recommend them to any BBQ or cheddar lover. But if you’re buying them because you’re looking for heat, you’ll be disappointed.
