A new pub mix is out and vying for your attention. It hails from a small, niche snack company called Cheez-It—ever heard of it? This new mix is basically a “Greatest Hits” compilation, pulling the best from Cheez-It’s many product lines into one bag. Inside, you’ll find OG Cheez-Its (duh), White Cheddar Cheez-Its, Cheez-It Grooves, Minis Sharp White Cheddar, Cheez-It Snap’d Minis Double Cheese…and, yes, windowpane pretzels. Because people just won’t believe it’s a snack mix unless they throw in some flavorless pretzels. Sigh.
I got my hands on a bag to tell you if these new Cheez-Its are worth buying. Let’s get into it.

New Product!

Pros: For important context, I recently tried Cheddar Chex Mix for the first time and couldn’t have been more upset by it. It tastes dusty and old, with cheap, stale Cheez-It cracker dupes and a cheese seasoning that’s almost offensive. In contrast: I’m REALLY happy Cheez-It made their own version now. The mix is toasty, fresh-tasting, and pretty harmonious, since it’s really just cheddar and white cheddar flavors with an array of textures. The Grooves and Snap’d Cheez-Its add a nice, much-needed crunch. (I think the Snap’d minis are trying to be the rye chips of the bag, but let’s be honest, nothing—and I mean nothing—could ever replace a rye chip.)
Cons: Pretzels, oh pretzels, why art thou in snack mixes? You are boring and crusty and add nothing but disappointment. I do think we could use some more flavors than just cheese in here, but on the whole, it still works. I would just buy a big bag of Gardetto’s rye chips and toss ‘em in, honestly.
Verdict: Would I choose this over regular Chex Mix or Gardetto’s? Probably not. But if there’s a bowl of it in front of me at a party, I’d definitely indulge.
