Chipotle gives back to its customers a little differently. In the face of customer fury over price hikes and the ever-higher cost of its burritos, it’s skipped the broad value menu offers that other chains have been going hard on this year, and instead has been focusing on quirky buy one, get one free deals and giveaways. Over the last few months, it’s run BOGO offers for folks who have tattoos and for customers wearing hockey jerseys, and, perhaps most notably, gave fans the chance to win $1 million in free food during the Super Bowl.

Now, it’s running another food giveaway – but this time, it’s just for teachers and healthcare workers. Here’s the lowdown on this new offer.
Teacher Appreciation Week: The Perfect Time For A Free Burrito
Chipotle announced yesterday, April 29, that it would be rewarding hundreds of thousands of healthcare workers and teachers with free entrée e-gift cards to recognize and celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week. The chain has run giveaways for these two professions since 2016, and last year, it achieved its highest participation yet. In total, up to $2 million worth of gift cards will be given away, and as many as 200,000 teachers and healthcare workers will be rewarded.
In its press release, Chipotle stated that this is part of its broader remit to make a difference in the places it’s located. “At Chipotle, we’re committed to showing up for the communities we serve, and that starts with the people who make a difference every day,” said the restaurant’s senior VP of brand marketing, Stephanie Perdue, in a statement. “Recognizing teachers and healthcare workers through this program is one way we can give back meaningfully.”
How Does It Work?
Ah, we thought you’d never ask. Through May 12, teachers and healthcare workers can sign up via teacherthanks.chipotle.com or healthcarethanks.chipotle.com for a chance to win a gift card. 100,000 of each profession will then be selected at random.
It’s worth noting that at first, you simply have to submit your name and email address – but if you’re identified as a winner, you’ll then have to verify your profession and employment status through ID.me. You’ll have to do this within 48 hours of winning, and winners will be notified from May 13 onward. If you can’t verify your employment, your winning slot may be passed to someone else. This offer is only eligible for legal residents of the 50 U.S. states & DC, and no purchase is required to enter — so you might as well go for it, huh? Click here for the full T’s and C’s.
