Chipotle Is Bringing Back Chipotle Honey Chicken—But It Won’t Be Around Forever

Where are my Chipotle lovers at? If you basically subsist on the fast-casual chain’s burritos, quesadillas, and bowls, you’ll want to get excited, because their fan-favorite Chipotle Honey Chicken is back just in time for summer. Bring on the heat, am I right? (And by heat, we mean just enough to feel something, not cry in public.)

How did Chipotle Honey Chicken become a fan favorite to begin with?

The spicy-sweet protein made its debut last summer for a limited time and then vanished after a few short months. Fans noticed and made their voices heard on social media, so Chipotle is bringing it back. Beginning on Tuesday, April 28, Chipotle lovers will find Chipotle Honey Chicken on the menu at locations in the United States, Canada, France, and Germany. 

So-called “swicy” (sweet-spicy) flavor profiles have been trending for a while now and you could argue the rise of hot honey is behind it. Chipotle’s take on a “swicy” protein is distinct because it incorporates chipotle peppers for a little bit of smokiness, too. You get the spicy smoked pepper heat up front and then sweetness on the finish. The brand describes the combo as “balanced” and fans seem to agree.  

Aside from adding it to a burrito or bowl, you can order a side of Chipotle Honey Chicken in a high protein cup, one of Chipotle’s newer offerings. Yes, it’s literally just a cup of chicken (you can also get their Adobo Chicken served this way), but if you’re not that hungry or you’re seriously cutting carbs, it’s a simple, wallet-friendly option at under 5 bucks.
