What would be your preferred way for a fast food restaurant to launch a new sauce? By simply having it arrive in stores with no fanfare? Demure, but slightly boring. By putting out a press release? Informative, but lacking in panache. By mounting a big, splashy, in-your-face ad campaign? Effective, but potentially irritating. By throwing a block party? Okay, now we’re talking!

The latter method is what Church’s Texas Chicken opted for, with a party hosted in Atlanta to celebrate the release of its new Churchie Sauce – and with a classic hip hop anthem soundtracking the whole thing. Let’s discuss.
Church’s Churchie Sauce: Cause For Celebration
Church’s marked the release of its Churchie Sauce by not just making it available to customers, but also turning it into an event that honors and celebrates the people who dine at its stores – and its Big Dip Block Party was the result of this. “With Churchie Sauce, we wanted to do more than launch a new menu item. We wanted to show up for our community in a way that feels authentic to who we are,” said Church’s Texas Chicken CEO, Roland Gonzalez, in a press release (yes, we know that we said that press releases have no panache above, but they’re useful too!). “Celebrating with Atlanta through music, flavor, and shared experiences at the Big Dip Block Party reflects how Church’s continues to evolve while staying true to the people and culture that inspire us.”
As the home to Church’s headquarters, Atlanta was the perfect spot to choose – and it also brought in an Atlanta legend to crown the event. Hip hop artist Freak Nasty performed a live version of his 1997 hit “Da’ Dip” at the block party, tying everything together and marking the 30th anniversary of the release of the song (which also had a moment on TikTok a few years back). That’s how you launch a new menu item.
And What Is This New Menu Item, Please?
Oh, yeah – we should probably discuss that too, huh? Church’s new Churchie Sauce is inspired by its Southern Comeback sauce, and is a creamy, sweet, tangy dip that’s perfect for dipping your tenders, wings, or whatever you want into. It’s now available at Church’s restaurants everywhere.
