Ah, TikTok: The source of so many lols, so many ills, and of so much questionable information. Food tips, takes on new recipes, and hacks are ten a penny on the social media platform, and so often they’re…not that great. In the worst cases, too, they can be actively dangerous (as in the case of the viral TikTok egg hack) or spread misinformation (just like the TikTok bottled water rumor did, and continues to do).

Now and again, though, social media delivers us a new way of making old favorites that we thank our lucky stars for – and the Cinnabon copycat that we recently spied over on TikTok has us praising the heavens. Here’s the deal.
Who Knew It Was This Easy?
This brisk little hack came courtesy of @manthacancook, who first posted it way back in 2022 – but all good kitchen tricks are built to last, so we hope you’ll forgive us for dipping back a few years to discuss it. As is shown in her video, all you have to do is pour heavy cream over some ready-to-bake cinnamon roll dough (you’ll need about a half-cup to a cup per tube), and then bake according to package instructions. As they bake, the heavy cream will soak into the rolls, giving them way more moisture and tenderness.
Now, if you’re anything like me, you’ll probably first assume that the heavy cream is taking the place of the icing here. It’s not! You still have to ice the rolls at the end, Cinnabon-style. But adding the cream will deliver an extra pop of luxuriousness, and stop your baked rolls from drying out in the oven. If you don’t have a Cinnabon anywhere near you (and given that they all closed in the UK in 2025, sadly, I do not), this is the next best thing.
Hacks On Hacks
In the comment section of @manthacancook’s video, people provided further ways to amp up this hack. “Also after you use whipping cream mix some brown sugar and butter together and spread on top before baking,” said one user, with another recommending that you add brown sugar to the cream. Check, check, check – I like the sound of all of these. Might just need a lay down afterward.
First the Hostess cupcake copycat recipe, now this one. It’s been a week of ‘em here. And I’m not complaining about it one bit, people.
