There’s really no better time than fall to stock your fridge, freezer, and pantry with comfort foods. After all, fall’s crisp mornings and darker, chillier evenings call for warm casseroles, hot bowls of soup, and your favorite annual autumn-inspired treats (yes, all things pumpkin spice included). And this fall, I’m picking up a number of fresh comfort food finds at my local Kroger.

So, if you’re also looking for Kroger items that are tailor-made for peak comfort food season, here’s what I’m adding to my cart this month for cozy, warming meals and snacks that feel like home.
Private Selection Creamy Lemon Garlic Cooking Sauce
Citrus season might not be at our doorstep just yet, but this rich and creamy cooking sauce is a must-have for fall. While it might look like a lemony spin on Alfredo sauce for pasta dishes, it’s actually a jarred sauce that’s just as comforting but even more versatile. Made with cream and staple seasonings like onion, garlic, and bright lemon, you can pour this into chicken or vegetable dishes, over pasta, or into casseroles.
I’m picking up a couple of jars to use over hearty fall comfort food like orzo and as a convenient weeknight way to add a new twist to my go-to autumn veggies, like zucchini, broccoli, and different types of squash.
Private Selection Avocado Oil Salt and Pepper Petite Red Potatoes
Sure squash is nice when fall arrives, but I’m a far bigger fan of potatoes. And nothing warms me up from head to toe than some kind of comfort food recipe starring potatoes. Instead of whipping up something on your own, however, Kroger is making it oh-so-simple with this bag of ready-to-heat red potatoes. The seasoning is simple — nothing more than avocado oil, salt, and pepper — but these will crisp up perfectly in your air fryer or on the stovetop and become a versatile, comforting side you can pair with anything.
I’m also picking up another new variation on these red potatoes: Kroger is stocking an Italian Herb version this fall, which features a touch more flavor if you want to spice up your dinnertime sides.
Private Selection Honey Glazed Root Vegetables
Another side that’s oh-so-seasonal and perfect for fall comfort food? It’s Kroger’s Private Selection Honey Glazed Root Vegetables, a frozen food pick that takes all of the staples of the season and bundles them into one super simple side you can heat up on the stove, in the oven, or right in your microwave in a matter of minutes. Featuring a mix of sweet potatoes, butternut squash, parsnips, and kale tossed in a sweet honey glaze, it’s the almost-effortless alternative to chopping your own fall veggies every night.
I’m stocking up on this new Kroger arrival to pair with chicken, steak, and seafood all season long. Plus, it’s something I can easily see myself serving on Thanksgiving and during other autumn get-togethers thanks to its simplicity and sweet-forward flavor.
Private Selection Caramelized Onion and Chicken Pot Pie
Is there anything that’s more of a true comfort food than a pot pie? I don’t think so, which is why I’m grabbing a few of Kroger’s latest version of this classic fall dish. A good frozen pot pie will warm you up in no time and feel like one hearty meal, and this version takes the familiar chicken version and makes it fresh and modern. Yes, there’s plenty of white meat chicken inside, plus sweet caramelized onions, a creamy sauce, and a just-right flaky, buttery crust.
I’ll be tossing this Kroger pot pie in the oven on busy weeknights for a quick dinner and saving extra for lunch portions, too. Any time the temperature drops into the 50s, you can break out this pot pie and instantly feel cozy and comforted.
Private Selection New York Style Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream Pint
Another must-have comfort food in my house is ice cream — you’ll find at least two flavors in my freezer on any given day. But this fall, I’m looking for something seasonally-inspired, which is why I’m buying at least two pints of Kroger’s Private Selection New York Style Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream. It’s like pumpkin spice and cheesecake joined forces with decadent ice cream to create a dreamy fall dessert. And, thanks to actual pumpkin puree and pieces of cheesecake inside each pint, it’s one that’ll be hard to put down.
Your tastebuds will immediately be comforted by familiar fall flavors like cinnamon and nutmeg, which make this ice cream feel both frosty and warm simultaneously.
