Today, we have yet another new treat I had to cross state lines for. In late August, I traveled to Times Square in the center of the greatest city in the world for one reason only: to get a new exclusive M&M’s flavor. Florida gave me Sprite + Tea Zero Sugar, Indiana gave me Coca-Cola Starlight, and New York City gave me the “new” Cookies & Creme M&M’s.

Are these actually new M&M’s?

Yes and no! M&M’s has released the “Cookies & Screeem” flavor during the Halloween season in the past, but the exact makeup of the candy hasn’t been consistent year-to-year. Specifically, it differed year-to-year whether the recipe included dark chocolate or milk chocolate; the 2025 release I’m covering today does feature dark chocolate in the multi-layered recipe. Enough technical talk, let’s eat some candy!

New M&M’s Flavor!

Cookies & Creme M&M’s Review

Pros: Any M&M that includes dark chocolate is alright with me. The blend of white and dark chocolate flavors is a good way to bring cookies and creme to mind—sort of. I know Reese’s and Oreo are having a whole thing right now, but y’all? These might as well be Oreo flavored M&M’s. (Let’s get started on those ASAP, Nabisco.)

Cons: I didn’t get halfway through the share size bag before I got tired of the two chocolate flavors fighting each other for dominance. The white chocolate absolutely could have stayed home; it gets so old so fast. I would far rather have multiple dark chocolate M&M innovations a year than the train of white chocolate variants we’re stuck with. If they come out with Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter M&M Minis in my lifetime, I truly believe it’ll fix my hairline and improve my credit score.

Where can I get Cookies & Creme M&M’s?

As I mentioned earlier, I found this at one of the four M&M’s Stores located around the country. Outside of M&M-branded stores, this new M&M is exclusive to the Albertson’s family of grocery stores. (“What’s an Albertson’s?” It’s the second largest grocery chain in the country, behind Kroger.) If you’re one of the millions of people who don’t live within an easy drive of an Albertson’s or an M&M’s store, I’m afraid your best bet is to order the new flavor in bulk from the M&M’s website.
