Shrimp is good. Breaded shrimp is something else entirely. I love shrimp in its unadorned form, but put a crunchy coating on the outside, and I’m in heaven: The saltiness, the textural contrast, the glory. God, I could demolish a plate of breaded shrimp right now. That said, it has to be good. Breaded shrimp, like any breaded seafood, quickly becomes a chore if either the shrimp itself or the breading isn’t quite right. And frozen varieties can be even more hit-and-miss; if they’re poorly made, they can be bland, flavorless, or downright offensive.

Customers don’t have to worry about that at Costco, though. We were recently reminded once more how good its Breaded Panko Shrimp is when a customer discussion on Reddit appeared singing its praises – and we thought it was time to talk about it again.
Costco Kirkland Signature Breaded Panko Shrimp: The Best Of The Bunch
A couple of days ago, a Redditor posted a thread talking about their experience with Costco’s Kirkland Signature Breaded Panko Shrimp, with one word in its title clearly demonstrating what they thought about it: “DELICIOUS.” Other customers were quick to agree that these shrimp are, indeed, delicious (sorry, DELICIOUS). “I get a box of these every month. They are absolutely divine,” said another person in the Reddit thread, while others started swapping how they eat theirs: Paired with sweet chili sauce, cocktail sauce, melted butter, and placed in fish tacos were just a few of the suggestions floated.
We thoroughly endorse the DELICIOUS-ness of Costco’s Breaded Panko Shrimp: We’ve tried them a few times before, in our best frozen shrimp and best fried shrimp taste-tests. In both of those, we gave Costco’s product a 10/10 rating; in the latter, we voted it the best of them all. It’s also one of the best frozen foods you can find at Costco, too. Basically, it rocks.
So Why Are They So Good?
Frankly, it’s because Costco gets every element right. The shrimp themselves are huge, with the promise of genuine sustenance (and a good amount of protein: You get 11 grams per three shrimp). The oil, meanwhile, doesn’t taste old and claggy, and they’re easy to cook: Pop them in the air fryer, and they crisp up beautifully.
Then there’s the breading of it all. By using panko breadcrumbs, which are larger, flakier, and more jagged than regular breadcrumbs, Costco gives these shrimp a huge amount of crunch and a lot of lightness. That crunch is what keeps people coming back. Find these in the freezer aisle for your next fuss-free dinner.
