The joy and comfort a well-constructed baked good can create really can’t be overstated. In troubled times, what better than to reach for a delicious mass of pastry, knowing that peace and restored equilibrium are just a few bites away? Costco seems to know this more than most. Its bakery doesn’t always get things 100% right (its recent buttermilk biscuits are evidence of this), but when it does, it really knocks it out of the park. And in the last few months, it’s been on a roll, particularly with its croissants: its mini pain au chocolat have been a hit with customers, and its Viral Twice Baked Cinnamon Croissants were a hit with, well, us.

Is its newest croissant going to beat them all, though? We’re not sure, but we wouldn’t be surprised; this thing looks incredible.
Costco Lemon Cream Caramelized Croissant
This week, Costco has dropped its new Lemon Cream Caramelized Croissants, and while it’s early days, these desserts look as though they may well be the standout for the reason. If you’ve ever seen (or tried) Costco’s Blueberry Cheesecake Caramelized Croissants, you’ll likely recognise the lemon version instantly. The croissants are part pastry, part pie: They come in individual tart dishes, into which the croissant is curled, with a hefty piping of lemon cream. It’s then hit with a crunchy topping, making it a texture sensation as well as a flavor one.
Like Costco’s Lemon Cream Caramelized Croissants, the lemon cream flavor is sold in six-packs, which cost $12.99 each (although prices may vary from store to store). They’re not the cheapest pastries Costco does, but you get over one and a half pounds of dessert for your money. Think about it: You and your friends go to a party, and they stay over afterward. The next day, you brew the coffee, you serve these croissants, and you talk about the night before. The whole day stretches ahead of you, gloriously, with your bellies full of delectable pastry. What could be better?
That Would Only Happen If They’re Actually Good, Though…
Oh, but they are good. That’s what people have been saying so far, at least. “This has to be one of the best desserts Costco bakery has ever done, in my opinion,” says Laura Jayne Lamb, aka @costcohotfinds. Others have pointed out how good they’d be in the air fryer. You don’t need to add anything to them, either: No jam, no extra butter, nothing. They’re good just as they are. Costco, I’m sold!
