Do you remember when Costco brought out a two-pound bucket of strawberries and cream? Pepperidge Farm remembers. To be honest, we’d be a bit concerned if we didn’t remember that happening, considering that it was only recently that it emerged in its stores, and that we tried it two weeks ago. Nonetheless, in the rapid pace of today’s food world, it could have been lost in the mass of new releases and viral items, and we wouldn’t blame you if it passed you by.

Apparently, though, Costco is determined for that not to happen – so much so that it’s reinvented the strawberries and cream bucket into a pie. Which is available now. And which we’re going to talk about.
Costco Releases New Strawberry Cream Pie
Costco’s new Strawberry Cream Pie has popped up in stores in the last couple of days, and over on Instagram, @whats_in_your_cart gave us a sneak peek. The first thing to note is that this thing is, as you’d probably expect from Costco and its bakery items, pretty massive. Each pie weighs in at a good few pounds (the one that @whats_in_your_cart found was three pounds and 14 ounces), and the majority of that is a creamy whipped topping, which, by its color, looks as though it’s berry-flavored.
There’s a layer of a jam-like strawberry filling, which sits on top of a graham cracker crust. Then, the whole thing is crowned with a big swirl of whipped cream around the outside and in the center, and a strawberry as a crowning touch. The one we saw cost $18.99, but prices may vary, depending on the store and the pie’s individual weight.
What Are People Saying About Costco’s New Pie?
It’s early days on Costco’s Strawberry Cream Pie, and so the reviews aren’t quite fully in yet. Early responses, though, seem to be positive. “It’s sooooo yummy,” said @whats_in_your_cart in their caption for the video, before stating that they’d definitely get it again. Others, though, pointed out the lengthy ingredients list, which is definitely an aspect we’d rather not see – and others still stated that they wanted to avoid the disappointment they felt with Costco’s prior releases. “The lemon pie was such a let down I’m gonna pass. Fool me once,” said one comment. That kind of thing lives long in the memory, guys.
Costco’s new pie is definitely in keeping with the start of strawberries & cream season, though, and it’s just the latest product to profile this flavor duo this year. Tillamook brought out a strawberries and cream ice cream last month, while Pepsi, Fanta, and Dr Pepper have all teased and launched drink versions of the taste combo. It’s set to be the flavor of the summer, and Costco’s just getting on board.
