It’s always nice to see savory Halloween food make an appearance. The season is absolutely inundated with new and returning candies, and while that’s fun, it does make me worry about what everyone’s dentists will say next time they visit. So, when a brand like Cup Noodles decides that it’ll carry the torch for salty, umami-rich Halloween options, it makes me feel a sense of equilibrium. Balance. Peace, even.

That said, that torch-carrying in question is pretty wild this year. If you eat with your eyes (which we all do), Cup Noodles’ Halloween flavor is not for the faint of heart.
Vampire Noodles
Yesterday, Nissin Foods announced that it’s launching Cup Noodles Vampire Noodles, a limited-edition flavor (in case there was any doubt) that will transport you to an episode of What We Do In The Shadows. You can probably guess by the name what it’s going for here, but I’m gonna break it down anyway: Every cup contains natural beet coloring, which, when water is added, transforms the noodles into a blood-red hue (and they do actually turn pretty red – Cup Noodles has gone big on the look here). Suspend your imagination, and you could be eating a little cup of animal intestines. And doesn’t that sound like an appetizing prospect?
Thankfully, on the flavor front, Cup Noodles has kept it fairly familiar. Vampire Noodles have a hot garlic and chicken flavor, which, while not shy and retiring, isn’t too out there. These noodles are a Walmart exclusive, and they’re available now, while stocks last.
Going All-Out
Cup Noodles isn’t stopping there. In a full embrace of the undead vibe it’s going for, it’s partnered with Titan Casket, “the leading direct-to-consumer casket company” (according to its press release), to make – get this – a custom collector casket. Want to bury your loved ones in MERCH? Now’s your chance.
The Vampire Noodles x Titan Casket features – and I’m chuckling while I’m typing this – a Cup Noodles emblem on the top lid, an embroidered head panel with the words “it’s to die for” emblazoned on it, and a maroon high-gloss finish. You can secure it by either entering a sweepstakes run via Cup Noodles’ socials or by buying it on Titan Casket’s website for just shy of $4,000. And you know what? Why the hell not. Obviously I’m not going to buy it — I’m not sure who would — but this is the most fun merch collab I’ve heard of in a while.
