Dairy Queen Is Dropping Its First Ever Halloween Menu (With A New Blizzard)

Dairy Queen is adding a little magic to its Blizzard menu this fall. On September 28th, the chain will launch its first-ever Halloween collection and one of the biggest attractions is a brand-new Blizzard that looks like it came straight out of a spell book.

The limited-time dessert combines DQ’s soft serve with Oreo cookie pieces and sweet ube flavor to get purple finish that makes it quite different from anything you’ve ever seen on DQ’s Blizzard Treats menu.

Bringing Oreo And Ube Together

Oreo and ice cream are already a pretty safe combination. DQ has been serving Oreo Blizzard Treats for years, so the cookie part of this new creation is familiar territory.

The surprise comes from the ube, which is a purple yam that has long been used in Filipino desserts. It has a naturally sweet flavor with nutty and vanilla-like notes. It has also become a huge hit in American desserts, showing up in everything from cakes and cookies to ice cream and drinks.

Now DQ is giving the purple ingredient a starring role in a Blizzard. The chain says the Enchanted Oreo Blizzard combines its soft serve with Oreo cookies and sweet ube flavor. The whole thing is then finished with the purple shimmer swirl, giving the Blizzard its magical Halloween look.

DQ Is Going Full Halloween With Its New Menu

The Enchanted Oreo Blizzard is only one of the items in Dairy Queen’s new Halloween lineup.

DQ is calling the collection its Spellbound Series, and it includes some other spooky creations.

There is the Bubble Brew DQ Sparkler, a drink made with blood orange and lemonade flavors, sparkling water and cold foam. DQ says the drink changes when it is stirred, creating more bubbles and foam.

Then there’s the Ghost Pepper Sauce, which brings some serious heat to the Halloween menu. DQ recommends the smoky, spicy sauce with its four-piece Chicken Strip Basket.

So, there is something sweet, something fizzy, and something spicy coming for Halloween.

Dairy Queen’s new Enchanted Oreo Blizzard Treat will be available nationwide at participating locations starting September 28th. It is expected to stick around through November 1st, giving fans several weeks to try the limited-time deal.

The Enchanted Oreo Blizzard has the familiar crunchy Oreo cookies that you already know and love, as well as the sweet and nutty character of ube, and a purple shimmer that makes the whole thing look ready for Halloween.
