Dollar General’s Offering More Savings On Back-To-School Snacks

In a grocery scene rocked by rising prices, Dollar General is a port in a storm. The store may not always be selling things for a single dollar, but regardless of whether its products accurately reflect its name, it’s a good place to head to if you want to pick up pantry goods, cosmetics, and certain exclusives without breaking the bank.

It’s also great for snacks – and as back-to-school season rolls around (and yes, it’s coming quicker than you think!), it might be where you want to head. Dollar General has just announced a bunch of savings on lunchbox favorites, and we’ve got the details here.

In a press release issued yesterday, Dollar General stated that it was on a mission to reduce the overall spend families have to endure during the back-to-school season, which is famously a fairly pricey couple of weeks. “The back-to-school season can put pressure on household and classroom budgets, especially when everything is needed at once,” said the store’s vice president, division merchandise manager, Steve O’Brien, in a statement. “Our focus is on offering the essentials customers rely on at affordable prices, including a wide assortment of items at $1 or less, while also making shopping as easy as possible through quick in-store trips and fast, same-day delivery.”

Dollar General’s offering more than 70 back-to-school items at $1 or less this year, but naturally, our concern here is food – and there are a few offers that, while not explicitly a dollar each, might still be of interest. Pick up 2 for $5 fruit snacks from Gusher’s, Fruit by the Foot, and Fruit Roll-Ups, or buy 2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks and get one for free. It’s also offering 2 for $5 on peanut butter and jelly ingredients from Welch’s and Peter Pan, 3 for $6 deals on Cheez-Its, and 4 for $5 deals on Lance Crackers.

Dollar General is also offering some big savings on stationery, with folders, pencils, and composition books all priced at $1 or under. You can pick up a 24-pack of Crayola crayons for $0.50, iMagine school glue for $0.50, and backpacks for $5 each. Check out all the store’s current savings on its website.
