We’re not exactly strangers to weird food collabs here at Sporked – and as of April 2026, they just don’t stop coming. In the last few weeks alone, we’ve seen Fanta collaborate with Xbox, we’ve seen Blaze Pizza work with Marvel, and we’ve seen Celsius hint that it might just have something in the works with the World Cup. Food companies just love to team up with others, especially if it generates some press (which is obviously where we come in – we guess it’s proof that it works!).

None of these collabs, though, match the new one going on between Domino’s and Shinola. For reasons that we can’t quite figure out, the pizza chain has chosen a collaboration with the watchmaker to launch its new Slice Sauce, and with it, access to its luxury watches at what it’s calling a “preferred rate.” Strange, huh? Let’s talk about it.
What Is Domino’s Slice Sauce?
Domino’s’ new Slice Sauce, which is launching pretty much now, is a new option for customers to drizzle onto their pizzas or dunk their crusts into. It almost looks like a burger sauce, with that kind of pale, pink-ish color, and Domino’s describes it in its press release as “creamy and zesty with a hint of Parmesan.” Which, admittedly, sounds very nice. So far, customers who have tried it are big fans, and say that it’s pretty close to Thousand Island dressing, but with a balsamic twist.
What’s With the Watches?
But this is where the strangeness, and the Shinola, of it all comes in. Domino’s is giving away its Slice Sauce with online purchases of any Handmade Pan or Parmesan Stuffed Crust pizzas until June 14 – but if you order one from now through May 7, you’ll get password-only access to a section of Shinola’s online store, which opens on May 8. In this store, you can grab yourself an assortment of Shinola items with Domino’s branding on it, which is presented in the gold and black color scheme on the boxes that its premium pizzas come in. Up for grabs is a 39mm Mechanic Watch for $1,350, a 36mm Runwell Watch for $565, and a Laptop Tech Case for $225. $225 for a laptop case! We’re in the wrong game here.
And Why Exactly Is This Happening?
Yeah. Great question. In the Domino’s press release, its CMO and executive vice president, Kate Trumbull, pointed to the fact that both brands are from Michigan, which suggests a local connection. She expanded on this, though, by directly answering the above. “Why are we unveiling a line of Domino’s-branded pieces to celebrate the kickoff of our new, craveable Slice Sauce? It’s simple: we wanted to provide customers with everyday luxuries, within reach,” said Trumbull. “Whether it’s upgrading your pizza with a free Slice Sauce or enjoying one of Shinola’s handcrafted, timeless pieces at an exclusive rate, both provide customers with next-level, elevated experiences.”
To be totally honest, we still don’t really get it, but we respect the left-field nature of the collab and the article it has subsequently produced. If you ever wanted a luxury watch to drip pizza grease on, here’s your opportunity.
