Whatever you may think about Snoop Dogg and his many ventures, the man makes good ice cream. At least, he has in the past. Snoop’s Dr. Bombay ice cream brand offers nostalgic and delicious flavors like Syrupy Waffle Sundaze (a 2023 Sporked Award winner), Iced Out Orange Cream, and Strawberry Cream Dream, among others like Peanut Butter Jelly Time.
This summer, Dr. Bombay is dropping two new flavors that nod to summer sentimentality and childhood flavors: Sticky Caramel Apple (a nod to a county fair favorite treat) and Long Beach Fruit Cart (an homage to the fruit mixes you can get from SoCal street carts).
Both new ice cream flavors will be available in Walmarts across the country later this month, but we got an early taste of both of them. Find out whether these are sticky icky in the good way or the not so good way.

Per the brand, this is “green apple sherbet and caramel ice cream with crunchy peanuts and salted caramel swirls.”
Pros: The caramel ice cream is quite good. It’s creamy and has a subtle burnt sugar flavor that we all really enjoyed. If this was simply a pint of caramel ice cream, it would have received high points. And the mix of bright, tart green apple sherbet with the caramel ribbon tastes a lot like those caramel apple lollipops from childhood. It’s nostalgic as hell.
Cons: First, let’s talk about the nuts. I realize caramel apples are often rolled in little nut chunks, but they just get in the way here. They don’t add any flavor and the texture is odd, because they’re so small. Get ‘em out of there. Secondly, the caramel ribbon isn’t caramelly enough. It’s sweet goo. It needs more oomph to stand up to that super tart green apple sherbet. Overall, the ice cream is disjointed—too sweet, too tart, too chunky—and could use some tweaking.

Here’s what we’re promised: “mango sherbet and coconut ice cream with pineapple pieces and spiced mango swirls.”
Pros: Overall, this new Dr. Bombay flavor is much more successful than the Sticky Caramel Apple. The coconut ice cream is sweet and rich and, importantly, it doesn’t taste like sunscreen. The mango sherbet is bright and tart. The mango swirl tastes like sweet, fresh mango, and the spice is thoughtfully incorporated. It elevates the mango flavor and doesn’t totally take over. If you’re looking for a new Dr. Bombay flavor to add to your freezer, it should be this one.
Cons: Where are the pineapple chunks? I searched and found nary a shred of pineapple! Maybe they’re way at the bottom of the pint. But I believe that if an ice cream contains chunks, those chunks should be visible from the jump. You shouldn’t have to go looking for them.
