An Honest Review of Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream

I am an absolute freak for Dr Pepper. I believe the classic flavor (or should I say 23 flavors) is perfect. It’s crispy and sweet and carbonated and simply iconic. I have zero notes.

Because of this, I’m always skeptical of new Dr Pepper flavors. How could you possibly improve upon a classic like Dr Pepper? And while I think nothing makes Dr Pepper better, some Dr Pepper flavors do taste good if you think of them as their own thing. We recently tried all the Dr Pepper flavors currently on the market, including this Strawberries & Cream variety, which hit stores in early February. Is this a sweet success or an unnecessary addition to the Dr Pepper multiverse? Let’s discuss.

Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream

Strawberries & Cream Dr Pepper (which was also released in a Zero Sugar version) is the newest flavor profile to join to the Dr Pepper family. The concept is interesting, but the execution is flawed. This soda doesn’t taste anything like normal Dr Pepper, so I don’t really see the point. It tastes like a very strong artificial strawberry soda.

If you’re a strawberry fan, check it out. It’s certainly not bad, especially if you love that fake, candy-esque taste or you just think the can is cute. But if you’re looking for something that tastes like Dr Pepper, leave this one on the shelf. Dr Pepper is still the superior flavor of Dr Pepper, end of story.

  • This soda is amazing, even the zero sugar version is better than most sodas. I’d drink it every single day if it wasn’t full of caffeine and sugar.

  • SWING AND A MISS. Yuck. Why mess with perfection? I’d also like them to bring back some of the ones they seem to have discontinued. Diet DR. Pepper caffeine free in reg. and cherry, and I’m having trouble finding Regular and Cherry Dr. Pepper no sugar. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

  • We tried it today and I’m not a fan. However, my husband and daughter love it, so I guess to each his own.

  • It tastes like someone came up with it after spilling a bit of strawberry Nesquik in an opened cup of Dr. Pepper, then decided “hey I’ve got an idea!” Pepsi Jazz did a better job of a strawberry flavored cola type soda, imo.

  • My favourite Dr.Pepper has always been Diet Cherry Vanilla but I have not tried Zero Sugar which I usually choose Coke Zero over diet coke and Pepsi Zero over diet Pepsi so now I believe my fave would be Cherry Vanilla Dr.Pepper Zero.

  • I like most sweet soda pops so knew this strawberry would be a hit seeing there aren’t any other strawberry sodas out there. I agree,if you had your eyes closed and didn’t know this was a Dr Pepper flavor, then you would just think it was a strawberry soda all its own.

  • Way better than you’re giving it credit for. Tastes like Cap’n crunch berries, tastes like Saturday morning cartoons…

  • I tried the new Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream. The 1st time I tried it, it was warm. I almost gagged. I swore it was horrible. A few days later someone gave me a can of it, I put it in the fridge. It sat there for 4 days before I got the courage to try it cold. I took 1 drink & I’m addicted. I have switched from Pepsi to Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream. With you had it in fountain drinks.

  • Dr Pepper is definitely my favorite soda. I don’t always reach for it, but I always come back to it. With that being said it is no surprise that I tried the Strawberries&Cream version. I like it, and will finish my 12 pck, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • I absolutely love the new Strawberries n Cream. I think you described it perfectly for what they were shooting for: Dr. Pepper that tastes like Strawberries n Cream. If you don’t like it, then it’s because you obviously didn’t understand what you were drinking!

  • If u can’t taste the 23 flavors of Dr. Pepper in this then you truly ARE NOT a real fan. This is one of the best off-shoot sodas I have ever had. It tastes like Dr Pepper with some strawberries and vanilla thrown in. A fake review from someone who is not a true fan of Dr. Pepper

  • I think it’s fantastic, but it’s definitely more desert’ish than a normal soda. I was surprised y’all didn’t show it on the mythical more last week new vs old products.

  • Absolutely atrocious. I love Dr Pepper. This tasted like bad strawberry fanta.

  • I think it tastes better in the can then the bottle. Still prefer the original or the cream soda.

  • I think it’s great and I also love their berry one. Honestly u could say I’m a true pepper fan.

  • Honestly, the moment I heard about this flavor I knew it would change my life. I searched high and low for weeks before my husband found a 12 pack and brought it home for me.

I cracked one of those bad boys open immediately. Took in the smell and sipped. It was at that moment I had the religious experience I’ve been waiting my entire life for.

To me, Strawberries and Cream Dr Pepper is bliss. It tastes like the soda version of a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar, or Strawberries and cream oatmeal.

Speaking of ice cream bars, this stuff makes the strawberries and cream ice cream float of your dreams. A couple scoops of Tillamook vanilla ice cream, poured over with a cold can of this stuff, and you’re in heaven.

But don’t listen to me, I’m biased 😉

  • We love it! We aren’t as concerned that it does or doesn’t taste like original Dr Pepper, but we see it as another flavor from the brand. Coke has several different flavors, Pepsi has several different types of flavors, so why can’t Dr Pepper have more than one flavor profile? It’s all about variety and we love having this Strawberries & Cream as another choice in flavors to enjoy! CHEERS!

  • I’m a Dr pepper addict. I call it liquid gold and it’s really the only soda I ever reach for. I know which restaurants have the best fountain versions and sometimes will go there just to get my Dr. Pepper fix. Unfortunately one thing that Dr pepper always gets wrong is added flavors. Cherry? Taste like cough syrup. Vanilla? Instantly spit it out. I can’t even imagine strawberry would be worth trying. Maybe I will just so I can say I was right, that it’s nasty. Please Dr pepper accept you’re the soda God and stop trying to mess with perfection
