Eggo Ice Cream Alert: Breakfast for Dessert Is About to Get Even Better

You’ve heard of dessert for breakfast. You may have even heard of breakfast for dinner. But Kellanova (the artist formerly known as Kellogg’s) is flippin’ the entire ever-lovin’ script on us by releasing ten new items that could qualify as, you guessed it, breakfast for dessert. That’s right, we are getting four different breakfast-themed pints of ice cream and six different cereal- or toaster waffle-flavored ice cream sandwiches, and as a Rice Krispies mascot would say, these things look poppin’.

So when and where can I find these new breakfast-inspired ice creams, which are legally, by association with breakfast, the most important ice creams of the day?

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s start with the flavors. Buckle your seatbelts—the list is long. From Eggo, we have pints of Buttery Maple Ice Cream (vanilla ice cream swirled with maple), Chocolatey Chip Ice Cream (sweet cream ice cream swirled with chocolate), and Blueberry Ice Cream (brown butter ice cream swirled with blueberry). According to Kellanova, the ice creams are “inspired by the beloved flavors and textures of Eggo,” which doesn’t tell us much, but the pictures appear to indicate there will be waffle chunks in the ice cream. Along with pints, we’re also getting Eggo ice cream sandwiches: Eggo Buttery Maple Ice Cream Sandwich, Chocolatey Chip Ice Cream Sandwich, and Blueberry Ice Cream Sandwich. All of the ice cream sandwiches include two “brown butter waffle cookies” on the outside of the sandwich. Let me tell ya, they had me at brown butter anything, but “brown butter waffle cookie”? Y’all better leggo my Eggo ice cream sandwiches because these are the only frozen “waffles” I want to be eating from now on and I will NOT be sharing.

The Rice Krispies Treats lineup includes a pint of Original Rice Krispies Treats ice cream, which, as far as I can tell from zooming in on an image of the packaging, contains marshmallow-flavored ice cream and chunks of Rice Krispies Treats. The Rice Krispies Treats ice cream sandwiches will come in three flavors: Original, Strawberry, and Triple Chocolate. The Original is vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two regular Rice Krispies Treats; the Strawberry is strawberry ice cream sandwiched between original Rice Krispies Treats with sprinkles on them; and the Triple Chocolate ice cream sandwich features chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce sandwiched between two chocolate Rice Krispies Treats. We are truly living in the future of the frozen aisle. As for how they are going to keep the Krispies “krispie” during this whole process? No one can say for sure. But I do know one thing—these sound utterly fantastic.

These new pints and ice cream sandwiches will all be hitting Kroger, Albertsons, and Walmart in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for them at almost all the major grocery stores. Personally? I can’t wait to (Eg)go to the store and see if these treats are all they are crackled up to be.
