I am not a Kardashian fan. I’m not against the Kardashians. I just do not care to keep up with them. But somehow a controversial video of Kourtney Kardashian showing off the way she eats a Kit Kat came across my path and let me say this: She is exactly right.
Let’s watch the video (you can scrub through to :30 to see her methodology):
It was posted in 2016 but it continues to crop up in the zeitgeist. At the time of writing, the video has 4,474,654 views. People are fascinated by how this woman eats a Kit Kat. Personally, though, I feel validated. This is how I’ve always eaten a Kit Kat Bar. I can’t imagine doing it any other way.
It’s because it prolongs the process, allowing me to savor each bite and continue eating a Kit Kat for much longer than someone who simply crunches down each stick in two bites flat. I nibble at the ends, then corn cob around the outside, until finally enjoying each flaky layer as its own delicious entity. For further context: I was also the kid who hoarded my Halloween candy for a full calendar year, meting out each morsel for fear that it would one day be gone.
Now, I don’t eat Kit Kats like this in public—let alone in a YouTube video viewed by millions of people. So kudos to KK for that. She’s willing to stand in her Kit Kat truth. I don’t want to be shamed. So, I will continue to savor my chocolate-covered cookie sticks in private. But I’ll do so knowing that I am not alone. A Kardashian really is just like me.
Well, fine, how do YOU eat a Kit Kat? Tell us in the comments.
