Peeps are absolutely losing their mind, and I love every second of it.
Peeps were once seen as bland, stale, sugary marshmallows. But, now? They’re brave innovators. They take risks. Peeps flavors like Pepsi, Sour Watermelon, Root Beer Float, and Fruit Punch have all pierced the Easter candy zeitgeist. This is what we love about Peeps. They’re a menace. Next year I wouldn’t put it past them to roll out a Chicago hot dog flavor.
I tried some new flavors for 2022 (and a few from 2021) to give you the Peeps scoop.
This tastes like those little cups of Keurig coffee, which, to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of. It’s less like donut shop coffee and more like the coffee you get in a styrofoam cup when you’re waiting for the mechanic to fix your transmission.
Yes. This is a vanilla birthday cake with marshmallows on it. It’s kind of artificial in flavor, but in a good way. Birthday cake is great because it’s cheap and sugary. That’s what Peeps are. Good pairing.
Does it taste like a Hot Tamale? Yes. Is it better than a Hot Tamale? Absolutely not. I left this taste test thinking, “Why are these Hot Tamales marshmallows?” Swing and a miss, but a fun swing and a miss. Way to take a chance. This is why we love Peeps. They’re brave.
Danny is a comedian, cook, and food writer living in Los Angeles. He loves gas station eggs, canned sardines, and Easter candy. He also passionately believes that all the best chips come from Pennsylvania (Herr's!). If you can't understand Danny when he talks, it's because he's from Pittsburgh.

There’s a cotton candy type I had recently that was pretty legit. Got some “Tropical Burst” ones on the counter waiting to be opened…
