Einstein Bros. Bagels has brought back its Pumpkin Bagel after seven years, which is a pretty long time to make people wait for a bagel.

The Pumpkin Bagel & Pumpkin Shmear is returning for the first time since 2019, just in time for the yearly moment when every food brand collectively decides it’s fall now.

And if you’ve been waiting for this particular pumpkin comeback, you can already get it. The full fall menu is now available nationwide.

It’s Finally Back

The returning Pumpkin Bagel comes with Pumpkin Shmear, so you’re getting pumpkin in both the bagel and the spread.

Einstein Bros. offered digital-exclusive early access starting August 19th, before the full fall menu arrived nationwide on August 26th. The brand says customers have been asking for the Pumpkin Bagel & Pumpkin Shmear to come back, which is presumably why it’s returning after seven years away.

I’ll admit I respect bringing back a seasonal item people actually missed, rather than inventing a new one nobody asked for.

And there’s something about a pumpkin bagel that feels a little more reasonable than some of the other pumpkin products that start appearing this time of year. Pumpkin definitely belongs in a bagel. I’m willing to defend that.

There’s More Than One New Way To Eat A Bagel

The pumpkin bagel is the main attraction, but Einstein Bros. also has a couple of new things on its fall menu.

The $3 Pull-Apart Bagel & Shmear comes in two flavors: Pumpkin Crunch and Cinnamon Sugar. The Pumpkin Crunch version comes with Pumpkin Shmear, while the Cinnamon Sugar one gets Honey Almond Shmear. They’re meant to be pulled apart and dipped into the shmear, so it’s a bagel you can pick at instead of committing to all at once.

I can see why the format works, especially if you’re ordering something to share. It’s also a little different from the usual bagel-and-spread setup, where you get a bagel, cut it in half, and call it a day.

There’s also a new Crème Brûlée Iced Coffee, which costs $1.99 in any size.

So if pumpkin isn’t your entire fall personality yet, Einstein Bros. has given you a few other options.

The Full Fall Menu Is Here

The Pumpkin Bagel & Pumpkin Shmear is now available nationwide, along with the new Pull-Apart Bagel & Shmear and Creme Brulee Iced Coffee.

The timing makes sense for Einstein Bros., too. Pumpkin season is already getting underway everywhere and bringing back a discontinued favorite gives the chain something a little more interesting than simply adding another pumpkin-flavored drink to the menu.

After seven years away, the Pumpkin Bagel is clearly the reason we’re here.

If you were one of the people asking Einstein Bros. to bring it back, the wait is finally over. And if you weren’t, well, you now have another pumpkin product to consider before the season inevitably takes over every inch of the grocery store.
