Every Recall To Know About This Week (Including A Few Tons of Bacon)

Yay! A new scenario for us to go over for this past week. Two products have been recalled this week for not properly being inspected on entrance to the country. Typically, import inspectors check documentation to verify products are properly certified by their country of origin and give a general inspection of the product when received. While the country of origin (Canada in these two cases) does this, federal law requires “every commercial shipment of imported meat, poultry, and egg products to be inspected prior to product entering U.S. commerce.”

We’ll get into the specific products in a little bit. Before then, we have to also cover a few more common causes of recalls (E. coli and undeclared allergens). Fun stuff! Let’s get into what products are recalled so you know what to check your kitchens for.

Frozen Blueberries And Whole Mixed Berries ― E. coli

Publix is recalling all lots of GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries due to a potential contamination of E. coli. The recalled product was shipped to Publix retail stores throughout eight states including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Both varieties were sold in both 10oz and 48oz containers and should be considered potentially contaminated.

Eridanous Shortbread Cookies ― Undeclared Allergens (Wheat, Soy, Milk, and Eggs)

Lidl US is recalling all units of Eridanous Shortbread Cookies with Chocolate Truffle Coating & Apricot Filling 11.6oz. This is due to their use of an ingredients and nutrition facts panel that did not properly advertise the use of wheat, soy, milk, and eggs in the product. The products were distributed between 07/15/2026 – 07/22/2026 to all Lidl US retail store locations in Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Bacon ― Not Properly Inspected on Import

Out of caution, Maple Leaf Foods has recalled 12,000 pounds of not-ready-to-eat smoked bacon products due to them not being inspected on entrance to the country. As a result, and as a precaution, 12oz packages of Royal Natural Applewood Spoked All Natural Uncured Bacon with sell by dates of SEP 01 2026 and SEP 07 2026 and 12oz packages of Top Valu Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon with sell by dates of SEP 01, 02, 04, 05, and 07 2026 are subject to recall.

Chicken Noodle Soup ― Not Properly Inspected on Import

In a similar situation, 4,300 pounds of a chicken noodle soup from BCI Foods were not properly inspected on entrance into the country. 10.5oz cans of Tasty Kitchen Chicken Noodle Condensed Soup with best by date of 2028 FE 04 and lot code 5 9 2 26 035 have been recalled.
