It’s always a good day when you have not had one of your beloved childhood favorites for a long time just to hear that it’s still being sold and available for you to enjoy on a particularly nostalgic night. But for fans of a certain French fry, they have not been afforded that luxury… that is, until now.

After the discontinuation of one of the classic Ore-Ida French fry flavors, it ignited an upset in the company’s loyal fans, so much so that the company had to address it head on. And now, it’s back.

The Beloved Golden Crispers

The Golden Crispers are not just another kind of fry. To many, they are the one and only fry. As far as at-home cooking goes, the Golden Crispers were the epitome of convenience and quality colliding. They offered a delicious fry that, when cooked correctly, hit that crisp mark to a tee and were filled with steamy, fluffy potato. They’re a crinkle cut shape, but somehow avoided all the pitfalls of crinkle cut fries like sogginess and bland flavor―despite being an at-home alternative with no deep frying required.

How Did We Get Here?

The Ore-Ida company discontinued the Golden Crispers a few years ago, I’m sure, expecting little to no change in its day-to-day operations. Honestly, I think the last thing a big company like that would’ve expected was the uproar that ensued. The company said it has received years of complaints and requests for the Golden Crispers to return. Their devout fans even went so far as to create and sign a change.org petition which currently stands at just under 2,000 signatures.

Whether you were one of the people who were screaming from the rooftops or were just quietly disappointed in the freezer aisle, Ore-Ida comes back to its customers with the good news that Golden Crispers are now back on shelves nationwide. Most Ore-Ida fries are inherently delicious. The brand strives itself on high-quality taste and texture. But now, for those of us with a distinct attachment to the Golden Crispers, we can finally get our hands on them once again.
