Ferrero Rocher is getting into the “individually wrapped chocolate square” space currently  dominated by Ghirardelli. The good people at Ferrero Rocher sent over all four flavors of their new chocolate squares for us to review. Will these be our new obsession, or just a little nutty? There’s only one way to find out.

Ferrero Rocher Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Squares

Pros: This tastes like a Ferrero Rocher ball flattened into a square! I wouldn’t hope or ask for it to be anything else. All four of these flavors have a super cute design as well: the imprint of a classic Ferrero Rocher ball tops every chocolate square. One of my fellow taste-testers nailed this milk chocolate treat in a single sentence: “This is very Ferrero Rocher.”

Cons: This is some high-level nitpicking, but these squares are a little annoying to open. Maybe that’s an intentional choice to support portion control.

Pros: This is easily the best white chocolate I’ve ever had—sorry, Lindt. The hazelnut shreds in all four of these squares add a great texture to every bite. They’re definitely beating Ghirardelli in that specific matchup.

Cons: It’s still white chocolate. In chocolate terms, this flavor is variety pack filler and not much more.

Ferrero Rocher Caramel Chocolate Hazelnut Squares

Pros: I was glad this didn’t have a super-messy caramel layer; unlike those Caramel Reese’s Cups, this isn’t going to ruin your shirt. Even if it isn’t there visually, the caramel flavor is absolutely present in a major way.

Cons: Despite being a thin layer inside an already-small square, the generic caramel flavor overpowers the quality chocolate flavor that you want from Ferrero Rocher. This is too sweet (even for me).

Ferrero Rocher Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Squares

Pros: Ah, there it is. Have I mentioned dark chocolate is the best chocolate and all other chocolates are unnecessary? This flavor is absolutely perfect. They could have stopped with one, y’all.

Cons: This isn’t a problem for me, but the flavor of the hazelnut shreds is entirely drowned in that beautiful, perfect dark chocolate flavor. The texture is still there, which is all I really want it to be in this situation. If you’re only in it for the nuts, this one won’t be your favorite.
