We Got to Try the New Reese’s Caramel Big Cup

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are the best candy. And they just released a new Reese’s product—available nationwide on November 17. Being November, you might think we finally got the Reese’s Turkey that everyone’s been clamoring for (okay, maybe it’s just me), but no. It’s the Reese’s Caramel Big Cup. What is the Reese’s Caramel Big Cup (or Reese’s Big Cup Caramel if you want to go by the packaging)? It’s a Reese’s Big Cup (an oversized Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup) with a layer of caramel. It might not be as exciting as a turkey, but it still sounds pretty darn good. Is it worth the hype? We tasted one to find out.

New Reese’s Big Cup!

Reese’s Big Cup Caramel

This isn’t the first time Reese’s has added something to their Big Cups. There are Big Cups with pretzels and potato chips and Reese’s Pieces—but something about a layer of caramel has really captured people’s attention. And it should. I won’t beat around the bush anymore: These are good.

Pros: While caramel and chocolate are a classic combo, peanut butter and caramel don’t hang out all that often. But Reese’s Caramel Big Cup proves that they should. Everything goes together so well. The thin layer of gooey caramel on the bottom adds just enough extra flavor, while still letting the peanut butter and chocolate shine. And let’s talk about that peanut butter—it’s better than the peanut butter in a classic Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup! It’s much, much creamier and more like actual peanut butter. I love it.

Cons: My colleague, Gwynedd Stuart, made the comment that there isn’t actually that much caramel in these Big Cups. And that’s true. If you’re only in it for the caramel, you might be disappointed. But I still think the balance is just right. The only other con I can think of is that it’s messy thanks to the gooey caramel. So, just make sure you have a napkin nearby and maybe don’t eat one before a big, important meeting.

  • Disappointing. Not enough caramel. Wouldn’t know it was in there if it wasn’t listed on the wrapper. Others are saying it’s a perfect blend. I’m not tasting it and you certainly don’t need s napkin because of the gooey caramel. Please add more caramel.
