They don’t sleep over at Fly By Jing, it seems. Who’d have thought that a chili crisp brand could be so industrious? Honestly, I respect the hustle. This year, Fly By Jing has released a new chili crisp flavor, dropped some new noodles, and popped up in Costco – and these moves follow a good few years of collaborations, new products, and even an advent calendar. Busy stuff, guys, busy stuff.

It’s just got even busier, too. We’ve just learned that Fly By Jing has teamed up with a meal delivery service, and we’ve got the details.
Tovala x Fly By Jing
Tovala has just announced its collaboration with Fly By Jing, and the two brands are bringing out a selection of new chef-crafted meals that combine the Tovala experience with Fly By Jing’s Sichuan Chili Crisp. The idea behind the collab, which features three new meals developed by Tovala’s in-house team, is that it showcases just how versatile Fly By Jing’s chili crisp is.
And they do sound good. The new meals are Spicy Honey-Glazed Meat (available with chicken thigh or pork tenderloin), Ground Pork Dan Dan Noodles with Chili Crisp, and Teriyaki Chili Crisp Baby Back Ribs. With every meal, you get a packet of Fly By Jing’s chili crisp, which you throw on after cooking it. The meals are available to Tovala customers starting August 19, and the collaboration builds on its previous partnerships, like with Beyond Meat.
What Is Tovala?
Yes – let’s talk about Tovala. On the surface, it looks like just another meal subscription service, but where Tovala stands out is with its Tovala Smart Oven. You get the oven, you get your meals delivered, you scan a QR code and do a little bit of prep, and then the smart oven cooks it in around 20 minutes or less.
Tovala says on its website that its system beats out the way that other meal prep services work, as you’re not simply reheating an already cooked dish, which can affect its flavor and texture. The downside, though, is that you have to spend hundreds of dollars on a smart oven to cook the meals it sends to you. You win some, you lose some? Worth pointing out that at the moment, Tovala’s running a Labor Day sale, in which you could get one of its ovens for free – so if you’ve always wanted to try it, now’s your chance.
